Down From the Mountain 426

I had been spending the last few days living here in Avatime district while visiting Ghanaian friends nearby. Away from internet, TV and any other distraction, it has given me a chance to ponder what next to do with my life.

This has been a real problem. Have submitted Sikunder Burnes to the publishers, and while there is still editing and proofs, a huge amount of time is now free. My determination to dedicate myself to working for Scottish independence led to my comprehensive rejection by the SNP. This left me confused as to what I might usefully do with my life. I suppose the question I have been pondering is, what good am I?

I have come up with a potential answer, and will out it later this week.

Climate change deniers should come to Ghana. Not only have changing rainfall patterns devastated the hydro-electric system, life has become extremely hard for farmers. The last decade has seen the highly predictable wet and dry seasons become wildly unpredictable. It has been unseasonally raining heavily on me all over Ghana. The situation is extremely difficult for farmers. Mango farmers are now praying for relief from the rain for the next six weeks or the mangoes won’t flower. The continuing rains may already have adversely affected next year’s harvest. Meeting cocoa farmers today. Am now in Kumasi.

    Craig,

Cheer up Sir. You are Several Years Younger than Me..This is Just The Transition – The Calm Quiet Bit when you can Sleep a lot to Regain Your Energy..The Quiet Before The Storm…a Time to Think a bit…maybe take few steps back and Review – what you really want to do.

I know its tough having an IQ as high as yours. My Sister’s is way over The Top 160’+ – and well or whatever reason like the Spike Milligan bit – Maybe The Religious – She has the Same Diagnosis as You – Manic Depressive – Bi-Polar and all the Librium etc and The Fascist controlling Husband. When I saw My Sister so Happy and so Free and so Artistic and So Sexy…But No – Only a Very short Term of Release – from The Convent School and The Bank To Be Her Older Brother’s Best Friend’s Girlfriend all Religious, Conform and All Saintly and well/hell…I didn’t go do down that way..Cos I’d seen most of ’em in the nuthouse.

Anyhow – My Sister is Still Alive – and She Doesn’t Know Yet – But I get The Distinct Impression that some people -yer know maybe one or two might turn up on the day she is 70 – later this month – Like a lot more than that..3?

You ain’t made 60 yet you wimp. Pull Yourself Together.

Have some play time with Nadira, Cameron, Frazer and the Rest of Your Kids…

    Stop Trying so hard…

PS to Avoid Gout…20 mins walk a day – lots of water – half a teaspoon of Bicarbonate of Soda in Half a Pint of water or a Little Bit of Apple Cider (in Half a Pint of Water)…If you drink alcohol – much less Beer – more Whisky or Vodka (with lots of water) and Fresh Cherry Juice – Oh and lose a bit of weight – more walks in the park – more sex – and less pies.

    Well, I’m still here too.

    What’s Next?

“Glad we agree on something; namely, that replacing the, at present, reproductively dysfunctional European people with hordes of philoprogentive settlers from the Third World is a bad, indeed an evil, project of the globalist elite.”

The right wing loons on this thread are beyond belief (all trolls; no sane person would put forward these beliefs).

They want to take you to war, always.

Are you stupid enough to believe them?

By the logic of some of these people, the Israelis are quite right to discriminate against Palestinians.

The U.S. Navy is now feeling the effects of how the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan is undeployable after its radioactive contamination off Fukushima. The Hill: Navy anticipates more carrier gaps in Middle East and Asia Pacific:

Currently, for the first time since 2007, the U.S. does not have at least one aircraft carrier in the Middle East to execute the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, or to deter Iran from nefarious behavior.

The USS Theodore Roosevelt left the Persian Gulf early last month, and the USS Harry S. Truman is not expected to arrive until the winter.

The Navy even went to a two-carrier presence in 2010, to simultaneous help execute the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and deter Iran from behavior such as closing the Strait of Hormuz, a vitally important international waterway.

That “2.0 carrier presence” ended it in 2013 under strain from defense budget cuts, and went down to one carrier.

There was a similar four-month gap earlier this year in the Asia Pacific, when the USS George Washington left Japan in mid-May and its replacement, the USS Ronald Reagan did not arrive until the fall.

Starving the Pentagon seems to have some good consequences. Cut the budget even more for World piece.

I met this guy at a WOMAD Festival(about 2007)..I asked him if I could meet him again busking on the street – and video him with better kit,,and I did…I gave him everything(original recordings)…he might have used it…this is a few years later….The Video Quality (The Sound) is actually a bit better than mine (I had an external mike – but hadn’t switched the auto sound limiter off…so lost the dynamic range..it was Brilliant (but my Sound should Have Been Better)

And all those ‘anarchists’ have been protesting in London all week (but of course the media will not tell you about it).

    Huge demo tomorrow, 5th November.

“If the US has an ” undeployable ” Aircraft carrier the USS Ronald Reagan , then it would appear by luck it’s found a possible way to dispose of it .”

USDOTgov may have found a more popular manner of decommissioning seacraft like the USS RR. Leave the vets on board to the Veterans Affairs unconcerned with the future though they may be.

Well, contrary to my initial belief, based on the reports about how narrowly dispersed the remains of that Russian plane were, it is looking more and more as if it was a bomb, and as if ISIS was responsible. Intel Points to ISIS Bomb on Russian Plane: Several Nations Halt Flights Into Sinai After Report:

Saturday’s crash of a Russian airliner, killing 224 people on board, is being called a probable bombing by several nations, citing intelligence gathered on internal ISIS communications. The US said they had no specific intelligence prior to the incident but saw a flurry of activity in Sinai in the lead-up to the bombing.

When it all goes wrong – and it has for me – several times over my life – when you are deep in the pit…deep in the hole..its like having fallen down a very old well..you are scratched, torn, burnt and weak…well – if there is any water in the bottom of the well – drink it..You are down all alone and no one knows..So what do you do?? die???

No you try and find your way out…maybe you can climb…no rope left….but is that a hand…is that girl reaching deep down to save you…with her feet anchored to the top..

Grab her hand..she is risking her life for you.

She pulls you up into the light.

Well she did me – that’s why I asked my Girlfriend to Marry Me.

Too fucked up for words dude. Get into a program.

    Canspeccy,

Have you ever considered embracing the otherness in our universe rather than raging at so-called differences??

    One blood and all that…

“Some good wise posts from you this evening…=)

Oh yes, incredibly wise. Just as wise – and inspired in the same way, no doubt – as the thousands of decisions which allowed a friend of mine to drink himself to death very recently.

What the fuck is wrong with you man, seriously? Did I write anything at all which might have suggested this? How can we “agree” on something that one of us never came close to making even the slightest suggestion?

  • CanSpeccy

Can’t believe I bothered arguing with someone as nutty as RobG, who tries to convince me that there’s no snow on the mountains on the coast of British Columbia when I can see the goddam snow on all the mountains to the south of my home at the southernmost point of the coast of Western Canada, including Mount Rainier, Mount Baker and the entire Olympic Mountain chain, all miles to the south of BC.

Now he’s saying its right wing to oppose genocide. Is that nuts or totally insane or what? He probably considers it fascist to see snow.

  • CanSpeccy

The brainwashing technique used here by Glenn_UK, Jives, RobG and all of Craig’s other bin buddies, or are they Saadi’s sock puppets, is the same as used by other exponents of the Soros promoted New World Order. Like Piss-Prize winner O’Bomber, blathering on about terrorists while you fund them, promoting inclusiveness while promoting white self-hatred, promoting democracy as you destroy it as an effective check on government, til just about everyone is too punch drunk to understand what is going on. It’s clever in a Hitlerian way. Well done.

“based on the reports about how narrowly dispersed the remains of that Russian plane were, it is looking more and more as if it was a bomb, and as if ISIS was responsible.”

Islamic State in the Sinai could easily find a suicide bomber and book a ticket. Russia is often the cheapest flight hub from the Middle East to the UK. The bomber could book a return ticket from the UK, meet up with local IS from Sinai.
They would appear to security officials to be a Western tourist.

Islamic State have been promised a caliphate and Western friend Russia has continuously thwarted both Al Qaida and Islamic State. These dumbos never question themselves about the reliability of their controllers, even though the Qur’an tells them to do so. The Jews and the Christians are friends only towards themselves. But there again they read the Qur’an with negative image spectacles, cursing the practising Muslims and idolising the Western powers with whom they have done a deal.

The deal is to gain power by helping the West to colonise the Middle East ( as delivered in Bosnia ).

If they were worshippers of Isis the Egyptian deity, they could not be more deluded.

    Snoopers’ charter cont’d

‘MI5 ‘secretly collected phone data’ for decade

MI5 has secretly been collecting vast amounts of data about UK phone calls to search for terrorist connections, the BBC has learned.

The programme has been running for 10 years under a law described as “vague” by the government’s terror watchdog.

It emerged as Home Secretary Theresa May unveiled a draft bill governing online spying by the authorities.

It would mean the internet activity of everyone in Britain had to be stored for a year by service providers.

    [..]

BBC security correspondent Gordon Corera said the programme, which sources said was used to track terrorists and save lives, was “so secret that few even in MI5 knew about it, let alone the public”.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-34729139

The government’s independent reviewer of terrorism legislation, David Anderson QC, told the BBC the legislation used to authorise the collection was “so vague that anything could be done under it”.

He added: “It wasn’t illegal in the sense that it was outside the law, it was just that the law was so broad and the information was so slight that nobody knew it was happening”.’

The American Rottweiler’s spy satellite reports seeing a blast from the Russian aircraft before it fell, the British Poodle yaps in support pointing to the poor security at Sharm El Sheikh and delaying UK bound flights while they run their own checks.
But no barking from the Russian dogs, just a deafening silence. What’s going on? Could it have been downed other than by a bomb and, as is normal, confusion is being spread?

  • YouKnowMyName

Mary – this ‘anti-democratic’ MI5 ‘phone snoop law that was ‘introduced’ in 2001, actually has a much longer history – strangely the ILETS non-group led by GCHQ/NSA had been pushing this way since at least 1995 (much open details in Statewatch.org and Campbell pieces over the years, especially for the German media)

at least it’s now publicly public!

  • Mary

Well said but Jeremy Corbyn should have raised it at yesterday’s PMQs.

“David Cameron’s invitation to Britain today of the Egyptian president and coup leader Abdel Fatah al-Sisi shows contempt for human and democratic rights and threatens, rather than protects, Britain’s national security.

Support for dialogue and negotiated conflict resolution in the Middle East is vital to us all. But to welcome and bolster with military support the coup leader who overthrew a democratically elected president in 2013 and has presided over the killing and jailing of many thousands since makes a mockery of government claims to be promoting peace and justice in the region.

Support for dictatorial regimes in the Middle East has been a key factor fuelling the spread of terrorism.

Rather than rolling out the red carpet to President Sisi, the Prime Minister should suspend arms exports to Egypt until democratic and civil rights are restored.”

Hmm. UK Gov talks up terrorist bomb in Russian plane on same day as we get details of the new Snooper’s Charter. The old one-two there, methinks.

Yes, the burying of ‘bad-news’ on a ‘badder-news day’ is a UK government speciality, but doesn’t that imply fore-knowledge of the so-called islamic state (could equally be KSA/CIA*) bomb, in order to get the timing right? I remember the Maggie government news management team liked to work 3-months in advance of the day-to-day news – but that was before all the media came to heel, churning the same bullcarp.

(*) from Asia Times November 1, 2015 “Russia’s growing muscle in the Middle East” By Manish Rai

. . .The Obama administration has been weak and passive in the face of Russian intervention. It’s basically allowed Russia to set the terms of a proposed solution. Russia, step by step, is increasing its influence by forging alliances with every key player in the regional arena. Let’s look at some of recent regional alliances that Russia has made:

Israel- Israel has discovered Russia and its growing sphere of regional influence in the region. That realization is what sent Netanyahu to Putin a month ago and brought about the visits of high ranking Russian army officers to Israel. It appears Israel doesn’t want to be left outside the equation now that Russia is increasingly involved in Syria. This is especially since Iran is solidly placed on the other side of the equation. This is the rationale behind the joint mechanism Israel has set up with Russia.

Iraq-Iraqi government apparently believes it hasn’t been receiving adequate assistance from the US and the European Union to ward off the Sunni Islamic State (ISIS). It’s turned to Moscow for support and is now receiving Russian aid under an intelligence and security cooperation agreement.

Egypt-The Arab world’s most populous country, is actually supporting Russia’s actions, notwithstanding the fact that Saudi Arabia is Egypt’s top paymaster. The reality is that, although most Arabs don’t like what Russia is doing in their region, they admire the way Mr Putin has been able to pinprick the Americans. Egypt has also sought Russian military assistance after being turned down by US.

Iran- The Syrian civil war has dramatically improved ties between Russia and Iran. It could lay the foundation for lasting Russian-Iranian ties in the region. Tehran also sees Moscow’s resurgence as a chance to ensure its own lasting influence in the region. Iran has been at odds with Sunni Saudi Arabia, which along with other Arab countries, is concerned about Shite’s Iran outreach.

But by employing military force in the region, Russia’s earned some Middle Eastern enemies as well. Turkey and Saudi Arabia are furious with Mr Putin, largely because Russia’s intervention now complicates both these countries’ strategic objectives in the region. . .

@RR haven’t you been watching Perviy Kanal then? they mentioned that Исламское Государство (ИГиЛ – ДАИШ داعش‎‎ ) had been in contact with some ‘proof’ that they were involved.
