I am involved quite extensively in the making of what I believe to be a valuable independent documentary. It is based on George Ponsonby’s excellent book London Calling, and has the working title How the BBC Stole the Referendum. We have already done a few hours filming of my contribution.
The film is being directed by Alan Knight. It still requires some finance, having raised over £12,000 so far from crowd sourcing. If any readers of this blog can make a contribution, it would be gratefully received. I vouch for the good faith and commitment of the production team, though I am not in any sense connected with the management or finances.
I should like to ask for a couple of other bits of help as well. Can anybody find the BBC footage of the appalling Gavin Esler puff piece for the “Vote No Borders” PR campaign. The BBC broadcast it repeatedly on every TV news programme on 2 May 2014, but seem to have managed to erase all trace of it from the internet. It might also be useful if somebody could take a little video footage of the company nameplate of Acanchi Ltd at 24 Chiswell Street, London, EC2Y 4YX. Footage of the nameplate, the street sign and a little of the surroundings, just to visually establish it is in London. The technical quality of that little bit of video is not terrifically important.
UPDATE
See Gill R’s comment below. The company may be at Unit 311 Business Design Centre, 52 Upper Street, London N1 0QH. If anyone can easily get to either address and see what they can film it would still be helpful.
Well, it might not be quiet this bad…

Those whom have studied the “hate politics” and its underlying imperatives would have noticed the various techniques in promoting hatred, as well as various techniques in suppressing hatred.
The reason for hate politics to exist ought to be apparent by now to the most dimwitted of the individuals. Alas this particular factor as yet has not penetrated the numskulls of some whom are readily given to hatred and violence for asserting a means of control in their chaotic and haphazard lives.
The promotion of hatred by the keyboard offence brigade, is an all too prevalent and regular event on this board! This is a deliberate tactic in sowing divisions and preparing the ground for copycat hatred to follow. This promotion can be in many guises, in the manner of jokes, and trivia, in the manner of anecdotes, and the current stories in the media, as well as soft button issues that are picked upon and spun in the way of politics of hatred.
In all cases of those promoting hatred of Islam and Muslims, the culprits pretend to be “English” despite their obvious links, or manifest sympathy with the tribe, whom then pick on the Muslims, or immigrants and proceed to subject these to racial harassment.
To this end you will find that EDL founder is a zionist fuckwit who is in the background and has given interviews in the capacity of his “trade” as a supporter and not as a funder and founder of this vile group of people. This in turn leads to the EDL to be directed and sicced at various Muslim communities around the UK further promoting hatred against Muslims and encouraging others to become have a go racists! As in the case of this thread.Glenn UK’s contemporaneous story
Needless to point out the wide spread and page to page Oligarch Owned Media reportage of these incidents of hate towards the Muslims in addition to the role of the Social Media ie Facebook et al is taken for granted.
However the reverse of the case being the Reclaim English streets back/Reclaim England Back that was a splinter group that was to do the EDL voodoo and gather in Stamfordham area of London a largely Jewish populated area was pretty quickly put down and totally ignored and the relevant keyboard offence brigade were sent out to smother the news as best as they could, and the march on Stamfordham passed without any mention of it anywhere.
Fact is as anyone on this blog has noticed there is a a great deal of pressure to stop any kind of anti Jewish rhetoric, even if it means deleting a whole thread. This of course is provided for in the law and the relevant keyboard offence brigades make full use of this legal assistance.
On the other hand Muslims are fair game and any numbers of attacks on them is tolerated with a few dissenters arising to the defence of the Muslims, however the fact that there are no laws enacted to protect these, as well as the total lack of any coherence and coordinated effort to combat the rise of anti Muslim sentiments in the West the latest of which has been “Muslims are not wanted in US” as in the case of yea olde “Juden Nicht Wünsche”!
As in the case of Irish becoming white in US it is now Jews become white in UK and US and its the turn of the Muslims, to go through the same formula included the same rhetoric that is being used by the zionist supremacists as their “own material”.
The simple fact is even in progressive blog like Craig’s the same rules apply; rubbish the Muslims as much as you like but dare not to rubbish the Jews or even the zionist vermin in other places in case the Jews get offended!!!
The simple fact that these days Xmas is being classed as “Holiday” ought to give the game away! Muslims actually celebrate the birth of Jesus (PBUH as so often denoted by the Muslims) whom they accept as yet another prophet from God/Allah/a single creator! On the other hand Jews (well most of them) hold that “Jesus whom will be boiling for eternity in a cauldron of urine and faeces for eternity is an impostor whom disobeyed the word of Rabbis”. this last sentence itself is considered as hate speech despite its origin that is found in Talmud!
Suppression of facts as well as any other form of criticism is the order of the day when it comes to the matters of master race, as for the pesky Muslims well they deserve everything that they get!!!!!!! As the case has been in this blog and elsewhere and one has the balls to tackle it yet!
The politics of hatred without objects of hate have no traction!
Hi ,
sorry, for whole paste, was in a rush,
this bit caught my eye,
”The British Monarch and the Lords of the Admiralty have promoted this fraud against us at the same time they have claimed to be our trustees, allies and friends in perpetuity. It’s time to clear the way for us to politely and peaceably exit from any presumption that we are or ever were “US citizens”, willing participants in the “Public Charitable Trust”, or willing “sureties” for the debts of any private bank-run governmental services corporation merely calling itself the United States of Something or Other.”
just food for thought,

SUHAYL and FWL
Here I am. The thé dansant was most pleasant , since you ask. And now to business.
SUHAYL – only to say that I agree with everything you wrote. And what you wrote shows that you have impressive insight into that period of French history. Is it a particular interest of yours?
FYL on your enquiries for reading material.
I don’t recall the titles of anything I’ve read about Vichy France specifically and exclusively. However, I know that a book by Julian Jackson, who is Professor of French History at Queen Mary, London, was well received when it came out; its title is “France: the dark years 1940-1944” (OUP, 2001, 680pp). That ov)bviously covers the period you’re inerested in.
On the other hand, for the period of the IVth Republic (and in some cases with a concentration on the first period) there are a couple of suggestions I could make.
The first is Jean-Pierre Rioux’s “The Fourth Republic 1944-1958” (CUP, 1987). Very detailed, comprehensive, serious, but perhaps a little dry.
A somewhat lighter but still excellent read is Frank Giles’s “The Locust Years: the story of the Fourth French Republic” (Secker & Warburg, London, 1991. Frank Giles was the Paris correspondent of The Times for much of the period in question.
On the same level, I’d say, is a more recent work by Antony Beevor (together with his wife Artemis Cooper) called “Paris : after the Liberation 1944-1949”; don’t be misled by the title because the work is about France rather than just Paris. I have a lot of time for Antony, who’s a self-taught as opposed to ‘professional’ historian, and Aerzmis is of course the grandaughter of the first post-war British Ambassador to France. A lovely couple and a good, accessible read.
For a more iconoclastic take you could also look at Alexander Werth’s “France 1940-1955” which, as you can see from the title, covers both Vichy and the first almost-decade of the IVth. A very long book, written by a well-informed(and at the time very well-known)journalist who was very much of a specialist on French affairs. A detailed, interesting book with a wealth of detail that one might only find elsewhere with difficulty.
Finally, I could suggest another couple but both are in French 5 I don’t know if you have French). The first is Gilbert Guilleminault’s “Les lendemains qui ne chantaient pas” (éditions Nöel, Paris, 1962), an eclectic collection of very interesting vignettes giving a flavour of immediately post-War France; I mention it because one of those vignettes is of the trial of Marshal Pétain. And the second is simply called “Le procès Pétain”, which is a blow-by-blow account of the entire Pétain trial supported by numerous verbatim extracts of the proceedings in all their aspects(eg, witness depositions, lawyer’s speeches, judges’ interventions and so on. By a Rowland W. Black (which sounds like a pseudonym to me) and published by Editions ASA, Brussels, 1945.
Hope that helps and bonne lecture!
MODS
And, by the way, I don’t mind you having deleted a couple of my squibs – you won’t catch ME whining away on here about being deleted!

Most of those books are no longer in print but you could try to get your local library to procure them. All of them (except the 1945 Brussels edition) can also probably be found for a few livres each on Abebooks or the like.
This is off-topic but shows that nothing has changed in the Verkhovna Rada since the western-backed coup parliament came to power – except the country is a whole lot poorer. Poroshenko’s men take on Yatsenyuk’s in a ballet of postures which have been dubbed “accidental renaissance” and here Oleg Barna presents Yatsenyuk with a bouquet of roses so his hands are occupied then lifts him up by the bollocks – I kid you not.

This is just the type of post Mary would have been slated for, a link that would incense the irrepressible Habba.
http://www.counterpunch.org/2015/12/08/back-to-basics-clearing-the-fog-of-the-palestinian-israeli-conflict/
The truth cannot be dis-proven by distortions, despite the wishes of those supporting the Israeli dream. Moderators, in allowing the derogatory and insulting remarks consistently aimed at Mary and others, effectively approved the behaviour. Habba and his cronies meanwhile cleverly draw attention to bogus anti-Semitism claims, yet Islamophobia reaches ridiculous levels, particularly from Anon1.
Are users who connect the dots of intricate pro Zionist organisations and the many think tanks not entitled to point them out? Why are some people so upset at these connections being joined? The complaints appear to be embarrassment driven, with the agenda becoming increasingly obvious, the cat out of the bag, so to speak.
Justice isn’t an option, its critical for the Palestinian displaced, tortured and murdered victims of Zionist violence from both the IDF and vicious extremist ‘settlers’. The Star of David painted across the military hardware, essential to the occupation and the theft of Palestinian land is recognised as a symbol of a particular religion but I wouldn’t want to upset anyone by making a big deal of it.
.
Thanks Habbs recommendations much appreciated will delve into some of the English texts and revert in due course. It might be interesting to compare the Vichy experience with other short term occupations eg Manchuria, but I had better read before I speculate.
A switch: the Resident Inquisitor is finally recommending books by name. I note, however, that, except for the Beevor, all the ones that he seems to have read are decades old.
Mary,
I don’t know if you’ll read this but please come back.
Other than Craig you were one of the main reasons I came to this site.
Why and what were your posts that were deleted??
Yes, thanks Habba for the reading recommendations.
I could of course tear apart just about everything you say in seconds flat.
It’s just too funny, though, to continue watching you trying to put across the impression that you are cultured and well-read.
Tell us about 1789.
“the Resident Inquisitor is finally recommending books by name. I note, however, that, except for the Beevor, all the ones that he seems to have read are decades old.”
Outta date, outta touch. That’s habby.
Have these books got pictures of the author on the back, with pipe and tweeds, gazing gnostically into the middle distance.
Some fine words of warning indeed. I guess he/she is a Canadian.

On the March to World War III
As hard as it is to believe, and as hard as it is to comprehend, we are quickly moving toward World War III. It’s strange in a way that the causes and signs of the impending war are wrapped like an onion – in many layers. This post is dedicated to unwrapping some of those layers, and giving people a point of reference for what’s happening to their world before their very eyes.
Thanks, Habbabkuk, wow, that’s a really useful list of references. My knowledge of the subject is limited, so your list is great to have.
*****************
Macky, yes, I get that, thanks. As I said, personally, it would be best if it were all allowed to hang out. Then it could be contested. I agree there are certain subjects that have become almost no-go areas, possibly for fear of the platform being associated with certain views and therefore risk being discredited. And that leads to the accusation of hypocrisy. But as I said, it’s not my blog.
More like Mr. Jones than the well read “oxford don” on goes the charade, although fact that this Blog’s very own Jones has finally managed to actually remember a few titles never mind their contents that date back to he days of the battle of Omdurman, and the era of Joan of Arc is no surprise, it should be the invigorating tea dance!

“Have these books got pictures of the author on the back, with pipe and tweeds, gazing gnostically into the middle distance.”
________________
I’ve just checked, Herbie, and the answer is no.
But you might be interested to know that the Alexander Werth book reproduces, on the front and back inside dust cover, a letter of praise written to the author by Pierre Mendès-France (I suppose you know who he was?). It begins thus: “Better a critical friend than an indulgent enemy. I hope a large number of my countrymen aware of the truth of this saying, will read the beautiful book you have just completed, andd which you set out, with an exceptional knowledge of the subject, to sum up the main phrases of the destiny of France over the past fifteen years.”
Yes, I should have said that the revised edition of Antony and Artemis’s book was published by Penguin in 2004. Apologies for the oversight.
Originally published by Penguin in 1995 and by Hamish Hamilton in 1994, which also makes it “decades old”. Two decades, to be exact. 🙂
1789 – although a misunderstanding ‘too delicious to invite correction’ I`d go with “too early to tell”
I read the reissue of the Beevor book a couple of years ago, which is what made me think it was more recent.
So yes, they’re all decades old.
Since we seem to be on the subject of France, and books, I would like to recommend a excellent read called The Hare with the Amber Eyes, by Edmund De Waal.
The book focuses on Charles Ephrussi, of the Ephrussi banking family, Charles was a great procurer of fine art and antiques, especially netsuke, he also exhibited his collections, where he rubbed shoulders with the artisans of 19th century, France.
I thoroughly recommend it.
Anyone went to see Craig? Any records of the proceedings?
Thanks for that video Brian, Tariq Ali is going through testing times as half of labour are undermining the Party and those new members who joined
Get Corbyn said the big fat controller of the BBC, and the BiBiCe chuffed and puffed and chuffed again, before its nice sparkly stars were shining above the snowy fur tops,….bells more sparkle, snow from above, aaaahhh
whilst Syria is attacked from all fronts by the hornets nest and Syrian refugees are freezing to death on the continent.
Stop attacking Corbyn, start scrutinising the Government, here’s somebody else chiming in with medialense and many others.
http://rowans-blog.blogspot.co.uk/
Aidworker: As far as I can tell the ‘offensive’ material was how each of the few Lib-Dem MPs voted at Westminster on the issue of bombing Syrians. And some fragment of song lyrics. Looks like creative differences.
Everyone thought Ibn Saud and Kemal Ataturk got rid of the whirling dervishes, but they came back … fortified by Captagon, radioactive Toyota ‘Fukushima’ special-edition pick-ups that shrink their balls and make their hair and beards fall out, MANPADS, heavy weaponry, framed photographs of William Hague and other such non-lethal aid. This is what happens when they’re left to their own devices. Now Turk and the House of Saud (not a patch on the House of Sher for their range of ceramic tiles and electrical goods) unwittingly round them up and deliver them into to the maw of all their worst nightmares – Secular Arab Nationalism or pan-Arabism.
I feel the world would be a sadder, emptier place without a few specimens preserved.
Suhayl Saadi; “But as I said, it’s not my blog.”
Well this the second time that disagreement with Craig that has prised out of you, the first was to do with Ukraine/Russia, when you keep your head down while that debate was raging, only for me to extract your actual opinion months latter; so now that you state that don’t agree with Craig’s instigated double standards moderation, will you dare ever voice your objection again, or will you revert back to keeping your kowtowing head down ?
Sorry I mean bombing ISIS/Da’esh they claim, so not then bombing Syrians, but their own mercs and ‘special forces’ in bedsheets. After having had the flaw in this pointed out to them by the critics, they’ve gone for Plan B, targeting schools ‘n’ hospitals instead.
Steady on Macky, we might disagree with CM from time to time (I have done so quite often, on a number of subjects), but that doesn’t mean we should rant and rave, bang the table and denounce CM as an Enemy of the People, or somesuch.
In this case, it’s good to see the views of racists and anti-Muslim bigots (like Billy and his mate RoS) out in the open, and we can then say what we think of them. I like to be given pause for thought on my own views too, it’s only by adapting and challenging them that we learn anything, instead of entrenching and reinforcing something that might benefit from another perspective.
@Glenn-uk, you seem to have missed my post @12.54pm
Can anyone see my comment at 7.31 pm?
