Coe Better Protected Than Blatter By Corrupt National Authorities 1875

Why are the Metropolitan Police not feeling Tory Lord Sebastian Coe’s collar and trawling his hard drives? I blogged recently about his involvement in awarding the World Athletics Championships without a vote to the hometown of his long term paymasters and sponsors, Nike. Plus the £12 million his promotions company made from VIP hospitality packages for the Olympics, the VIP tickets for which were allocated by the Organising Committee of which he was the £600,000 pa chairman.

Now we have this, from the person Coe works closest with in the IAAF and who he has now promoted to head the President’s office since Coe assumed that title:

« Dear Papa,

Following our discussion earlier I have already had some thoughts and believe that we need to do the following, in the strict confidence and control within a small circle of senior IAAF staff only. This must be very secret.
(…)

4. Finally, as soon as possible, and ‘unofficially’ PR campaign to ensure that we avoid international media scandals related to the Moscow Championships especially in the British press, where the worst of the articles is coming from. This will require specialist PR skills (working only with me directly) from London, but I believe that if we consider using CSM we can also benefit from Seb’s political influence in the UK. It is in his personal interest to ensure that the Moscow World Champs is a success and that people do not think that the media of his own country are trying to destroy it. We can work extremely hard in stopping any planed ‘attack’ on Russia from the British press in the coming weeks.

5. Finally, I need to be able to sit down with the Anti-doping department and understand exactly what Russian ‘skeleton’ we have still in the cupboard regarding doping. I think that the time to have unveiled the various athletes was a long time ago and that now we need to be smart. These athletes, of course, should NOT be part of any Russian team for these World Championships and Valentin should be pressurised to make sure this is the case. If the guilty ones are not competing then we might as well wait until the event is over to announce them. Or we announce one or two BUT AT THE SAME TIME as athletes from other countries. Also we can prepare a special dossier on IAAF testing which will show that one of the reasons why these Russian athletes come up positive is that they get tested a lot !!! In the same way, we can make the point that the WADA laboratory is the responsibility of WADA not IAAF and that if WADA decides there really is a problem, we have a plan B to do the tests in Lausanne instead (Gabriel confirmed this to me yesterday).

Papa, as soon as I have an idea of the price of this unofficial PR campaign I will let you know, but I will do everything in my power to protect the IAAF and the President.

All the best Nick »

So what does the Establishment now wish us to believe?

a) As long-term Vice President of the IAAF, Coe had no idea the organisation was massively corrupt and the President was taking huge bribes to cover-up doping scandals.
b) Coe had no idea his close associate and now head of his office Nick Davies was writing to the son of the President proposing that Coe’s company and Coe’s “political influence” be used to keep doping scandals out of the British media.
c) Coe’s meeting, while Vice President of the IAAF, with executives of his sponsor Nike, to discuss awarding the World Athletics Championships to Eugene, had no bearing at all on the decision of the President of IAAF to award the games to Eugene without a vote.

All that is even less convincing than Sepp Blatter’s declarations of innocence. Yet there is an utter difference in the British media’s treatment of Blatter and of “Lord” Coe.

I wonder why?

So what am I supposed to say to Craig Murray..who has little or no knowledge of physics and maths, believes the Official Story of 9/11 and Global Warming..and He hasn’t even bought his Snow Grips, Extremely Warm Coat, Skis, and Car with 4WD, Snow Chains. He’s an Englishman (Norfolk) in The North East of Scotland with his Lovely Wife Nadira Filming in the currently warm weather.

Doesn’t Craig Know how the weather can change so quickly – like from nearly midsummer to frozen artic – enormous Snowdrifts..in a matter of hours – even in Southern England…You can get caught out in an open top sports car – with just a canvas roof..

Does he know what its like…when I am texting my Son with his girlfriend..just keep warm and alive..turn your engine on – for maybe 5 minutes an hour..just to keep warm through the night…and the kids are only 5 miles away..

Scotland is a big place. and Craig is a Southern Softie.

I do like him though. Cos he said No You Can’t Do That (Torture).

You never know when it is suddenly going to turn really cold. take more than a thin jacket with you..and another one for your girl ( cos you are just going to give her yours )

    Tony

Node: “No, you weren’t making a point about Mary’s beliefs, you were questioning mine. You asked “Why do you believe she deserves special, privileged treatment, above that of the rest of us?” and since I didn’t say and don’t believe she deserves special treatment, you were asking me to engage with your straw man argument.

This is becoming a little tedious, node, with all due respect.

Since you decided the sainted Mary’s treatment was unfair – and I suggest you look back at the record, which indicates very strongly this was exactly your position – I asked why you think her treatment should be so much better than that of the rest of us. (And to be frank, the mods did over-indulge her, imho.)

Perhaps I got a few details wrong (they are so unimportant I didn’t bother checking). But you appear to want to argue about minutia about this point, and really – it doesn’t really merit a long debate.

Node: “No, it’s not clear why Mary left, as is evident from the competing theories.

She left in a huff, according to her own testimony, because Her Hallowed Posts were removed, FFS!

“Competing theories”, indeed! For goodness sake, we’re talking about one poster indulging in some self indulgent sulk, not some mysterious world event. Get a grip, please.

She flounced out, in an outraged tizzy, and said something about taking an early xmas break. There are other posters here too, even if they’re not so filled with self-reverence, undue importance, and so unbelievably thin-skinned that they think any personal criticism is an outrage – even while they heap abuse on anyone caught in a very wide net (which includes even the slightest indication of dissent) so that they might be described in Mary’s world as an Enemy Of The People.

Do you think a beautification is in order or something?

  • Alcyone (End the Cliches ;-)

^ Glenn, don’t waste your time on Node. He’s proven to be neurotic and he plays to win not to discuss. Enough said. Time to hit the sack. See you around and have a good evening; don’t work too hard.

  • glenn_uk

Alcyone: Node seems interested in the truth at times, perhaps I’m giving too much credit.

Thanks for the discussion, see you around. I’m taking off in a couple of days for a week or so, but it’s nose to the grindstone until then.

  • Alcyone (End the Cliches ;-)

Glenn, Node is harmless guy but sometimes he gets the bit between his teeth and becomes very dogmatic and that is exactly what he is doing here re St Mary.

Well there are somethinhs I admire about you: your vegetarian way, your health and exercise/keeping fit and your wholistic approach to life in general. Healthy body, healthy mind. And also your aptitude for hard work. I just met a very critical deadline that has kept me stressed over the last month. The only way I survived it was to sleep before 10pm and get 7-8 hours of sleep, just to keep going.

Now that’s over and i have insomnia but not angsting over it. The holiday period will be chilled with healthy eating and like you lots of exercise though i’m not training for a marathon.

You enjoy your break. Knowing you, it’ll be some where good and wholesome! Best wishes for 2016

    Frightening.

Donald Trump is a ruthless businessman who bullies and bribes and tramples over ordinary people to get his way. He claims those ordinary people can trust him because, being a billionaire, he won’t have to borrow to buy the presidency, and he’ll protect their jobs from murdering rapist Hispanics, and nobody asks him why he has a day-job on a tacky reality show. He’s a fraudulent blustering racist populist and I wouldn’t trust him an inch.

But I’ve just watched him do a one hour live rally, playing a crowd of thousands like he was Freddie Mercury, barely glancing at his notes, dealing with hecklers, charming and funny, and he made me like him.

    Terrifying.

Hmmm, maybe “charming” is the wrong word, but clever and charismatic, definitely.

And maybe “like” is the wrong word, but fuck it, I listened to him for an hour.

    Do not underestimate this guy.

He’s an entertainer and a brilliant showman. He’s the product of, and the perfect match for, a TV nation.

Trump makes me very uneasy, he’s popular with some but all that proves is what we already know, there’s a lot of stupid frightened right wing Americans out there.

He is hyper divisive, incredibly egotistical, authoritarian, and would undoubtedly betray the American people for corporate interests. Personally I think he will serve as Romney and McCain did, handing power yet again to the democrats.

Though that is hard to imagine as they have already had eight bad years of the ‘left’ which usually makes the pendulum of the phony left/right paradigm swing the other way.

Either way their empire is crumbling and the next financial crisis show them that they missed their chance when they foolishly rejected this Ron Paul (below)

Does anyone know what the wives of the two brothers were supposed to be doing while the men went off to Disneyland with their nine children?

    Cleaning behind the fridge?

Sounds like the perfect description of Alex Salmond who has been off trying to sell Scottish exports to Iran. Don’t know what, our main exports are oil and whisky.

Mind you Trump is Scottish so it might not just be coincidence.

I wonder why there is so much emphasis on spectator sport and not participatory sport?
Sport participation is (usually ) energising, healthful, uplifting, convivial.
Does anyone remember the justifications that were wheeled out for the 2012 Olympics. It was argued that the profile of sport-being raised by the event-would lead to the flowering of a sporty participatory society. The inspiration would, we were told, filter(trickle?) down to the lowest levels of the country and grannies and grandads and inner city yobs, neds, and assorted dissolute young people would eschew their getting wasted, for the delights of early mornings on the training field, in the gym, running on the byways, as they aspired and perspired their way to sporty greatness.
I also remember quite clearly the countervailing position, that received a very tiny exposure, that the wish to create a healthier, more sporty, more uplifted population would be achieved by spending the £?15 odd billion on facilities, and development projects that were inclusive and permitted people to get access to groups, equipment and expertise.
Football is an interesting topic too. Scotland was once the happy hunting ground of the scouts of the leagues-both English and Scottish but that is now virtually non-existent. Hardly a decent player since Kenny Dalglish. Think back to the era of Jock Stein and how he melded and exhorted a bunch of clod-hopping no-hopers from a radius of about 20 miles of Dunfermline, into European competitors.
Jock Stein had very little of what might be described as TV era, Jose Mourinho self-regard but what he achieved was pretty damned miraculous.
It is certainly something to do with self -belief and there is a relationship to the political processes that go on. In the last 40 years or so we have seen a decline in that Scottish self -belief, which was mixed up with that ‘Scottish cringe’. It was, in some senses, an act of defiance, of the unspoken and largely uncomprehended feeling of being devalued and oppressed and excluded by a larger, more powerful neighbour. It is curious that that the kind of mentality that sustained scottish sporting prowess has declined as a more coherent sense of self mediated through a parliament has emerged and been incorporated into the political world.

He has a residence in Scotland, two golf course as wells, one parent Scottish.

That makes him as Scottish as Craig is doesn’t it?
