Recently an Angus mother of three infant children was separated from them and jailed for ten months for over-claiming £10,000 per year in benefits. Meanwhile the Duke of Westminster evades £3.6 billion in inheritance tax through a transparently fraudulent use of trusts which “have the option” to give the money to someone else instead.
The United Kingdom is a socially backward and sometimes vicious polity, an island which prides itself on the state enforced conservatism which allowed it to evade intellectually motivated reform and retain a historical legacy of gross injustice and privilege.
For historical reasons land reform is an immensely popular cause in Scotland, and one of so many areas where SNP timidity is a deep, deep disappointment. The fact that they are covered in buildings does not make the vast London estates of the Grosvenors any more acceptable than the unnecessarily empty Highland estates where golden eagles are destroyed so the chinless wonders, hedge fund managers and sheikhs can blast away at tame grouse.
The late Duke of Westminster is characterised as a “philanthropist” by mainstream media even though the percentage of both his income and his wealth he gave to charity was less than most ordinary people’s mite, myself included, and I am willing to bet that what he did do, was tax-deductible. That a parasite who sat on £9 billion of unearned money in a country where disabled people commit suicide from poverty, and who got two O levels from Harrow, was Prince Charles’ closest friend, cuts through the lying propaganda about the Royal family we are constantly fed.
The political class have a deliberate will not to enforce inheritance tax on the super wealthy. They have a political will not to tackle landlordism, which as it affects both residential and commercial tenants is a fundamental malaise of the British economy. Neither problem is technically difficult. The problem is that the political class as a whole are in the pockets of the super-wealthy, promote their interests and ache to join them.
Which is why in the UK it is important that the threat to them posed by Corbyn is maintained, and why in Scotland it is essential that the SNP membership now push their own leadership into bold action on fundamental land reform and Independence. To call the current SNP approach to both issues desultory would be excessively polite.
I’m vaguely wondering if the plotters are ballsy\suicidal enough to rig an Owen Smith victory. I mean, they are already rigging the vote, but presumably just to keep the numbers respectable, I’d be genuinely surprised if they thought they could go the whole hog, and return the loser.
In a way, I hope they do. Because at the next GE, all of them will lose their seats. The remnants of the Labour Party will all be Corbyn-ites, so the PLP will no longer be a problem. Alas, they will no longer be a problem for the Tories, because there will be less than 100 of them, but omelette’s\eggs etc, as Trotsky might say. It’s not the perfect solution, but I would vaguely congratulate all the Nu Lab members for their bravery in jumping on the Mandelson landmine, even if saving Blair from jail doesn’t really seem worth the effort.
Hate to admit, I’m kinda enjoying the last days of the Reich. They really don’t see it’s over yet, and seem to genuinely believe that Shiny Blair v2.0 will rescue their careers. Funny, though tragic.
Are you a troll? Looks like it to me!
Some think international affairs are not relevant to their daily life, others see a connection or are just interested, but no one should be so caught up in matters beyond their personal control that worrying about them apparently prevents them from quitting smoking. Be interested, but don’t let big topics take over one’s personal life.
At least one person has been killed, four are injured and more are feared dead after a giant explosion rocked a sports centre in
BELGIUM.
http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/704043/Belgium-bomb-explosion-Chimay-Chalon-sports-centre
Police have confirmed four other people are seriously injured and there were “many more” people inside the popular sports centre at the time of the inferno.
People are feared to be trapped under the rubble and the local fire service is currently leading a huge rescue operation.
This is very close to the border with FRANCE
So far,
“There is no link to terrorism or anything like that.”
And here we have news of a newborn baby being saved by a savvy woman….aaaahhhhh mind, no links to tewoorwism
“Kate, 33, a nursery nurse who is trained in first aid, made frantic attempts to clear her airway while husband Adrian called an ambulance.
But when Molly failed to respond, she rushed next door to grandmother-of-four Kathy Turton, who said “instinct” kicked in as she jumped into action to help.
Kate, from Liverpool, said: “I’d gone to bed early and her dad brought her up and put her in her basket, then went to get her bottle for the night.
“We’d literally just turned the light off when I heard a noise that sounded like she was vomiting.”

There’s been a crossbow attack in Canada
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/crossbow-attack-toronto-three-dead-scarborough-police-a7210156.html
it could be a false flag attack.
A female jogger was attacked in Denmark:
http://www.thelocal.dk/20160817/female-jogger-attacked-in-copenhagen
Could be more terrorism, you know. I bet the poor woman found it terrifying.
So, if the Sports Center in Chimay, Belgium, quite close to the French border is not connected to the gas.
How can they straight away say it is not terror?
Only asking
Anther thing, if a sports center in Chimay, Belgium, explodes, killing a person and burning others ( building not connected to the gas)
how come it is not mentioned on the BBC but they still think Turkey is in Europe?
only asking
I suppose, we could be charitable and say as the daily newspapers claim it was not terror but just a gas eXplosion, yet as the BBC have had their fingers previously burned, they think it is possible that a sports center
blowing up, yet not connected to the gas, could be terror?
RobG giving up smoking.
Tricky but with modern pharmaceutical aids, much easier than it once was.
Stopped about 25 yrs ago thank goodnessI Used the nicotine gum. If you are well and truly addicted it is difficult to get out from under that hard place.
One of the sustaining factors if I stopped was the thought that I would not be giving as much tax to the exchequer, or contributing to the profits of BAT, or to the upholstered existence of Ken Clarke (a major beneficiary of the tobacco industry-he is/was chairman or something in one of the major tobacco companies). KC used to smoke a ‘panatella’ as he delivered the budget. To be fair, although not i am hostile to Tories in all their duplicitous manifestatons, at least KC always seemed quite human and had interests outside politics-i.e. not a modern machine politician.Still he is a Tory, which is, of course, an unforgiveable failing.
Anyway-stoppng smoking :
My experience was that there are three phases to stopping;
1. A period of about a month where al the baby/emotional ritualised adaptations to smoking have to be
confronted. Things like the rolling up of the cigs, the comforting habits, the oral gratification (throwback to babyhood?) which have become emotional props to everyday functioning.
Giving this up is simply determination /will power with some assistance from a nicotine substitute which allows you to establish new habits and experience the benefits of less wheeziness and coughing etc. The absence of these discomforts becomes a reward.
After this phase, which I suspect varies for different people,(for me about a month) you realise that although you feel better, you are still addicted to the nicotine(if you have used some aid). I used gum.
Anyway,at some point you will have to deal with the actual nicotine chemical addiction.
This is phase 2: Three days of considerable discomfort as you body adjusts to a new chemical regime, without the stimulus of nicotine. This was a difficult phase for me but it is relatively short lived.i think I went lots of long walks and deep breathing and slept (and read a lot) to get through this phase.
Once you have got through the three days or so -you are sort of ‘in the clear’ until you bump into phase three. For me this was about six moths after giving up.
It is ‘the decision’ that you are a non -smoker. What i mean is that for some period of time you are still just ‘a smoker who happens not to smoke at that time. all the pleasant associations and memories of being a smoker are still very present and it is necessary to make a psychological adjustment of some sort-to embrace the world f the non-smoker.
Many people manage to give up smoking for some considerable times but relapse because essentially they hanker after those happy smoking days of youth, when one could smoke with apparent impunity due to youthful strength and resilience. However at 52 you have certainly lost that resilience. At 52 you are actually dong damage ‘in real time’ as opposed to the damage done in youth which will be felt only in some nebulous future which never quite seems to arrive when you are in ones youth.
I suspect that that moment of reckoning arrives at some point in ones forties/early fifties and for men is also some kind of ‘manopause’ moment.i.e you have pretty well used up all your physical options and need to start being a bit more careful if you want to persist a bit longer in this world.
Best of luck.
This is how I gave up RobG, I had two goes at it though, first time failed.
I replaced the tobacco with a herb mixture and after being fed up a week later dropped it. After week two the night sweat started and I added some more physical work into it to make myself sleep better.
The urges were extraordinary.
After food I wanted a fag, after sex the same, every time you have a positive experience this nagging started in the back of your mind saying’ why don’t you have a fag now to round it all up?’
This is the point were you own suggestive powers come to bear. used autogebn training to tell myself that I’m doing really well and that, at this point in time after two weeks I could not possibly cheat myself. This two thoughts were the more powerful and I re applied the same thoughts over and over again.
Once you have gone two weeks there is really no need to cheat on your resolve, your steadfastness and or the positive physical changes that occur.
Physiacally your lungs will try to clean themselves out which can be helped along with various natural remedies, I used a certain kind of mushroom.
You all of a sudden can run more than a hundred yards, fast, without coughing and spluttering your guts out. I did long cycle rides, because your weight goes up slightly, but it is a controllable diversion as well, not just physical.
in one word, self suggestion when the pangs really start.
@ MN and all others who need to get out more. How about an easy championship even you can win, if you turn up that is. Lots of fun and games guaranteed, without teworrwism!
http://www.crabandlobsterfestival.co.uk/
should be ‘autogen training’, sorry.
Nevermind: I tried with the gum, and the puffer. Didn’t work so well. In the end, it was just quitting with a Full Stop – utilising that quitnet site and reading the NTAP book (along with associated videos). It was really tough, but there was a point in that NTAP which I found compelling – if someone tried to sell you a medicine which would calm you when stressed, stimulate you when tired, provide solace when unhappy, and round off some good event.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-EGqSaMtXk&list=PLSngYUKohZwGASzlcrN4GlS5sF07xezH2
So it was an upper, a downer, ideal for good times, bad times, and indifferent times. You’d say that was not a genuine article. So what does it actually do?
It stops you having the stress of withdrawal from nicotine. That withdrawal can beset you no matter how good or bad a given situation, so it really improve on any given condition you find yourself in. But you could always be in that position in the first place, by not suffering from any degree of nic withdrawal. The idea of getting to such a position gave me the incentive to persist with the quit – and indeed, I’ve not had as much as a single puff since.
Thanks for that Glenn uK, I have no pangs when I walk past a vast smoking crowd outside Aviva’s office or a pub, thats all over now, never tried gums or patches, just self suggestion and herbal.
In defence of the Moz (yes, you read that right), it is no business of the French state to be dictating what can and cannot be worn by French citizens going about their private business. I would agree that a Muslim woman should not be allowed to wear a full-face veil if she wishes to work for the state in the capacity of, say, teacher or doctor, but it totally contradicts French, and indeed Western values of the liberty of the individual to start arresting and manhandling private citizens because they do not conform to what the state decrees is appropriate dress.
With these actions, France is going down the route of Saudi Arabia and Iran. The question it should be asking is why it imports so many people in the first place with values so completely different to those of the host culture.
I have some experience of the French police for minor traffic infractions and even for such trivial offences as not wearing a seat-belt, I found them to be a particularly nasty and unpleasant lot. On the last two occasions I was stopped and fined I could smell alcohol on the breath of the officers.
To see this rough treatment by police officers of women enjoying themselves on a beach, whose only offence is to not wear state-approved clothing, disgusts me. The French government should hang its head in shame.
The next FRENCH presidential election is scheduled to be held in April and May 2017.
Incumbent president François Hollande is eligible to run for a second term.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_presidential_election,_2017
However it would be eXtraordinary if Francois Hollande retains the presidency.
The only likely way that could happen, is if he keeps extending the emergency status, that FRANCE is currently enjoying
and if he says”times are so dangerous, that we must put off the election, till the emergencies are over”
It has been suggested, by some, that Islamaphobic Theresa May will not announce the official start of BREXIT
till the results of the FRENCH presidential election are known.
I have no understanding of the reasoning behind that thinking, unless it is a stalling tactic?
Perhaps white nuns will be forced at gunpoint to remove their habits and don thongs if they want to stroll along the beach. Bring it on.
Between this and playing silly-buggers at Customs inspection at the ports – giving severe grief to anyone trying to actually get there – one might think the French were deliberately trying to damage their tourism industry.
The uptick of tourists around here is staggering, I haven’t seen anything like it. So many people say they’re staying in the UK this year, what with the Euro, the French pissing off everyone by imposing mighty delays for the ferries, not to mention the odd bit of terrorism.
Fully agree.
NB to all Uk-haters reading: one cannot imagine the “dysfunctional” UK acting in the same way.
NHS in free fall to privatisation, Human Rights Act to be scrapped (although you wouldn’t know it from the press) continuing anti-change/pro big business agenda promoted by the ‘free’ press, major escalation in Syria expected (as soon as the next ‘spectacular’ ‘attack’ on the west is phoned in it’s a dead cert) the bombing of Yemen continues apace with British weapons, Fugees continue to be agitated against/amass/find themselves incarcerated without crime or trial, the next round of New Cold War posturing/MIC sales promotion could fatally misfire…
Come on Craig, your voice is somewhat in demand!
“Fugees continue to be agitated against/amass/find themselves incarcerated without crime or trial”
In Calais they are felling trees to block roads and threatening truck drivers with baseball bats and iron bars, to get to the UK.
Anon1
are they trying to get into the United Kingdom because it is so bad in France?
Presumably the prospect of living in a “fascist police state” and “vicious polity” like the UK is an attractive one.
One thing is for sure, though. If they have come through France and many other safe countries with the sole objective of gaining entry to the UK, they are NOT refugees. They should be treated as illegal immigrants (ie, criminals) and deported.
Your bigotry is beyond belief. You must have had a hard childhood to have such a callous crabby carapace.
Bigotry? How so?
I had a blissful childhood. I just don’t do selective, politically motivated virtue signalling.
You don’t do love!
Mr Goss
Love is the last thing i read in your various posts.
(Well, except for Putin-love, perhaps)
See this link:

Well, J. you seem to have identified those alleged problems all by yourself, haven’t you.
You’re obviously a big, perspicacious, fearless boy – so why do you need Craig’s endorsement? 🙂
There’s a big field hospital in the Italian earthquake area, bigger than is currently needed. An official said it was just in case they find they need to treat a much larger number of people.
Meanwhile, the Israelis are “offering support”. Or harvesting organs, to call it by its real name.
Just as they did in Haiti and Nepal.
Jenny Tonge got sacked as Liberal Democrat foreign affairs spokesperson for condemning this vile behaviour and refusing to retract her condemnation of it.
Gonna defend that, hasbarakook, you slime?
Welcome back after a welcome absence, N_ !
But why are you addressing me in particular? 🙂
Tom Watson says Jenny Tonge would be “welcome” in Labour
A peer and former Liberal Democrat MP is considering defecting to Labour because Jeremy Corbyn’s “honest” politics are “a breath of fresh air”. Baroness Tonge claimed “lots” of Lib Dems were thinking about shifting their allegiance following the left-winger’s election as Leader of the Opposition.

It has been obvious for many years that the strategy to end the NHS and replace it with a private profit driven system has been to burden it financially while bleeding off layers of influential users into the private system.
There must be a special place in Hell for people who set out to degrade and destroy a workable health service simply in order to promote the diabolical ideology of capitalism. That place will be part of the larger cannibal section.
This Morning Star editorial makes some valuable points about political activity in general as well as specifically regarding the NHS crisis:

Just 44 more comments until 2017.
The BBC are certainly pushing health privatisation. The insurance scum must be salivating like the fangers they are.
It’s just boring waffle from a man who has read a great many books but gained little except a vastly over-inflated opinion of his intellect and the ability to drone on at great length on a single theme. That’s why I was reminded of him whilst reading you.
You do know why Lindsay was sacked from Telegraph Blogs, don’t you?
Awake at last Anon 1.
Here is another link this one to a Police State of which you approve to the point that I’m dubious that you actually slept at all with your fellow hasbarista- just exchanged pillow talk about persecuting muslims.

A group of Westminster MP’s have claimed that social media, are consciously failing, by letting there sites promote terrorism.
The Home Affairs Committee (HAC) said, that social media has now become the choice in spreading propaganda (maybe the BBC could heed that advice) and giving terrorism a platform.
The (HAC’s) response to a report they commissioned, is to beef up and upgrade considerably, the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Internet Referal Unit (CTIRU). The idea (apart from stifling free speech that little bit more) is to have at hand, a high-tech, state of the art round the clock central operational hub.
Keith Vaz, who chairs the (HAC) claims the internet is a war zone, and the idea is to win hearts and minds.
In my opinion, it’s just another infringement on our ability to speak freely, this new unit, will be used not just to identify any terrorist threat, but to try and shut up those people, who would openly criticise the dis-United Kingdom’s role, in matters domestic and foreign.
You sound worried, RoS.
You and your fellows should be.
It was high time that our legislators woke up and it is to be hoped that legislative action will follow.
Denying that terrorist acts have occurred (RobG) or claiming that they are false flag operations (many) can be considered as aiding terrorism, objectively speaking.
False-flag isn’t a light claim, there is much doctrinal, historic, even parliamentary evidence for its use, including by the UK.
We similarly used false inflatable tanks in a war, false airports & cities in the blitz, false cows in Milton Keynes – Leonardo da Vinci invented a false soldier on the battlements. “false” and warfare are indistinguishable, and we are still deep inside the ‘global war on terror’ with sometimes the whole first half of the Daily-Mail hysterical about something vaguely ‘islamic’
The way the media ignores/refuses to analyse a crisis situation in context with previous times of tension just adds further doubts to their attempted reporting, a False-Flag is always an option that MUST be considered. Not to do so is mere propaganda, the BBC should get their expert on the sofa, and allow him to use the phrase that he is often thinking to himself.
At times, one might think the ‘traditional’ media are using Luntz methods, like your machine?
http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/comment/israel-gaza-conflict-the-secret-report-that-helps-israelis-to-hide-facts-9630765.html
Oh look, Glasgow people are now laughing in Owen Smith’s face. ROFL
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/owen-smith-labour-leadership-kezia-dugdale-laugh-entryism-a7211131.html
And he’s even come up with a new buzz-word “Entryists”.
So the three stooges got together in Scotland, Kezia Dugdale, Owen Smith and Jeremy Corbyn, the latter two are jousting for the leadership, of the Labour party, whilst Dugdale kept her fingers crossed, hoping Corbyn wouldn’t ask her why, she was supporting Owen and not him, for the leadership.
As the two men jostled for position, Corbyn said to the 500 strong audience at the SECC in Glasgow, “We don’t want to become a low-wage, tax haven, bargain basement economy, off the shore of Europe.”
Well Jeremy it’s a bit late, we are already exactly what you described, with Brexit looming and the Tories completely unsure how to handle the exit. Meanwhile Labour are still in turmoil, and pose no credible opposition to the Tories.
The E.U. after all a picture saves a thousand words:
http://ddees.com/index.php/2015/09/11/david-dees-art-gallery/
Staying on the Labour party, well the branch office in Scotland, that is, PFI payments have risen to over £1 billion pounds, per year, for the first time. The sheer and utter incompetents of Labour, and the LibDems who held office, when the PFI ventures were allocated is breathtaking.
For example Addiewell prison cost £80 million pounds to build, will eventually end up costing the taxpayer over £1 billion pounds.
The Tories come a close second for the party most likely to ruin the Scottish economy.
http://www.thenational.scot/politics/snp-slam-toxic-pfi-legacy-as-payments-reach-1bn-for-first-time.21624
So administrators of NHS England are trying to cut a staggering £22 billion pounds off the the service, in order to plug a blackhole.
NHS England has divided the country into 44 areas, and asked each to submit a cost-cutting sustainability and transformation plan.
Measures taken to reduce the deficit could include the closure of some accident and emergency departments, the merger of neighbouring hospitals and a reduction in face-to-face consultations.
The reforming of any NHS, in the dis-United Kingdom, to plug such a huge blackhole, of £22 billion pounds, must and will have a considerable knock on effect to the citizens of England.
Like the Titanic, the Tories are slowly steering the NHS in England into the iceberg, only it won’t be the Carpathia, that comes to the rescue, no it will be privatisation.
Thankfully in Scotland the SNP are committed to protecting the NHS.
But aren’t the Scottish government doing the same thing but calling it NPD instead?
They’re building a new NPD school here in Caithness.
http://news.scotland.gov.uk/News/New-48-5-million-school-campus-for-Wick-eb6.aspx
If they can get it finished before the foundations sink that is.
http://www.johnogroat-journal.co.uk/News/Delay-hits-new-Wick-High-17082016.htm
Tell me Fred, what’s wrong with the Non Profit Trust programme, compared to the PFI initiative which our grandchildren will still be paying for long after we’re gone.
If you have any information, to show that the NPT programme is not value for money (your second link aside) then do please share it.
NPD is just PFI with a different name, the SNP put “Non Profit” in the title to try and con people that the private firms didn’t make a profit but they do. The SNP say that the profits are capped but don’t say that they are capped at the same amount a company could expect to make in a PFI deal.
The same company, Miller Construction, who built the PFI schools that are falling down in Edinburgh is building the NPD school that is sinking before it is finished in Wick.
Fred.
Can you link to anything that backs up your assertions?
I mean the PFI shambles initiated by Labour. is well documented.
You’ve nailed him very well, Fred – as so often.
One knows he’s been nailed as soon as he replies with a feeble request for “links”.
Keep going!

“Black-ops” experts: How come none of you have called out this rather obvious False Flag down in Italy?
I mean come on. The images we’re seeing obviously came from somewhere else – I think one of those “Crisis Actors” was caught laughing at one point (they’re so unprofessional these days). Anyone seen a funeral of one of the so-called victims yet? Didn’t think so!
And where’s the blood? I want to see blood, lots and lots of blood – how come buildings fell down without plenty of blood everywhere? Can’t these amateurs get anything right?
Next – who are these so-called victims. Never heard of any of them before!
Besides – it’s perfectly obvious that this was a HAAAARP/ Laser beam from a spy- satellite that produced what looked like an earthquake, in order to distract from the New World Order takeover by the Bilderberg group as they march us into FEMA death-camps where tens of thousands of guillotines are even now being delivered.
Haha, Glenn. Got to have been a hoax. There was a Murdoch-owned reporter on holiday there at the time, meaning this must have been an orchestated event. Also, why were there no Juice among the dead? Were they forewarned? It looks like the zi0nist-controlled CIA has once again deployed its earthquake machine so the jooz can harvest more organs from the g0yim.
Happy National Dog Day, by the way.
glenn_uk,
You are not supposed to notice things like that, and for God’s sake don’t mention Woolwich – or they might do a Chris Spivey to you – who now seems to have gone a bit like David Shayler (and seeing double everywhere).
I tried to mention Nice to someone I know in Nice, but fortunately my French is crap, and google mis-translated it seriously toning it down.
When 99% of people believe all the bollocks they are fed, there ain’t a lot of point in trying to challenge it. Everyone just thinks you’re a loony (and I have no defence against that charge).
I won’t mention Camber Sands either (and I once saved a kid from drowning there 25 years ago) – but it was rough and windy at the time – he was going after his football, and then suddenly realised he couldn’t swim. His Dad slagged him off something rotten (for losing his football) – I couldn’t be bothered to tell him what really happened.
Tony
Nice one, Glenn!
You’re very good at nailing the false flag brigade.
Humour – as in your post above – is probably the best way to do it; after all, one cannot discuss rationally with trolls.
The official cause of the eXplosion is still unknown, but an “official” with Belgium’s Crisis Center said
“the information that I have is that it due to an accident, probably gas,” adding that there was no indication that it was a terrorist attack.
How can you say it is not terror, if you know nothing?
Before today, I had never come across U.S. Army Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson. He was very Senior in the Bush Administration and was Colin Powell’s right hand man. He was largely responsible for refining and presenting Colin Powell with The Dodgy Dossier re known non-existent WMD’s used to justify the Iraq War.
He did something quite remarkable in 2004, and jumped ship from the Bush Cheney lunatic asylum over the issue of Torture and went public about it (obviously not through the Mainstream Media). Very few people in a similar position have done that. He was in fact even braver than Craig Murray (who did a similar thing re Torture), because Wilkerson was quite obviously guilty re his personal involvement presenting false information to justify war. Craig Murray was innocent – and merely brought the issue of torture to the attention of the UK Government (probably expecting to be thanked).
He says some extremely strong things in this interview I found today on The Saker’s website. He appears to come clean about absolutely everything (apart from 9/11 which would almost certainly be fatal (virtually no one in a senior position in the US Government has done that – the closest I can think of was Susan Lindauer CIA – read her book Extreme Prejudice – its Brilliant – She was arrested and banged up in a Military jail/nut house – merely for telling the truth and trying to stop the Iraq war starting))

The German Government has gone nearly as nuts as the US Government and the US Right Wing Preppers. They make our Braindead US Puppet Zombies in Westminster seem relatively sane – or will they be issuing gas masks, iodine pills and Anderson Shelters next week? Maybe we should bugger off to Christchurch in New Zealand for 6 months. They do have some good bands on there – and if in the meantime the Northern Hemisphere has blown up, they will probably let us stay for a bit longer as illegal immigrants. (The Russians – are doing similar shiit – but you can hardly blame them with nutters like Clinton about to take power)

“Many have responded with a mixture of surprise, shock and horror to the “Civil Defence Concept” (KZV) officially presented by German Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière on Wednesday. Extending over 69 pages, it details a series of measures to prepare the population for a war.
“One must pause for breath after reading these 69 pages,” wrote the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on Monday in a preliminary report on the document, noting that it dealt with issues one would rather suppress.
“How to be protected against attacks using biological or chemical weapons? How will the population be taken to safety if a radioactive cloud spreads? Where will the federal government hide if an attack is threatened? Where will cultural treasures be stored in the case of war? How can men and women be made to report for work in ‘sectors vital to life and defence?’”
These questions had to be asked, the newspaper stated, because it was necessary to “prepare for the worst.”
The “Civil Defence Concept” appeared in parallel with the “White Paper 2016 on Security Policy and the Future of the German Army,” which proposed a major strengthening of the military. Whoever thought this meant only an expansion of military deployments abroad can now clearly see that the German government is preparing for wars that will transform Germany and Europe into a battlefield—and within the foreseeable future.
The “Civil Defence Concept” calls on the population to establish a personal store of water and food to last ten days. It recommends that a first aid kit, warm blankets, coal, wood, candles, torches, batteries, matches, charged batteries and cash reserves be kept at the ready.
Further measures to prepare for a “state of defence” include the “strengthening of building materials” for public and private buildings; the establishment of a “dependable alarm system” via radio, TV, sirens, loudspeakers, text messages and the Internet; and the creation of hospital “decontamination stations” in case of nuclear, biological or chemical attack.
The document declares it necessary to consider the reintroduction of compulsory military service and the implementation of a secure method for the call-up and mobilization of military personnel. It argues that the Federal Labour Agency should have the power to compel men and women to work in “sectors vital to life and defence.” ”

Well, what a surprise, not, the judge, jury and executioners of the Palestinian people, have cleared themselves of any wrong doing, during their, 2014 onslaught of the Palestinians.
In which 2,200 Palestinians were killed, the UN claimed the majority of those killed were civilians. The International Criminal Court has opened a preliminary examination of Israeli conduct in the war, but issued no conclusions.
Republicofscotland,
There’s a lot about that lot I do not get. Whilst growing up, and being subjected to the same media sources as everyone else, I was very much on their side – to the extent that the idea of spending a few months on a Kibbutz rather appealed to me. It seemed much the same as joining a hippie commune in a remote part of Wales – but with better weather. There was only one person I knew who couldn’t stand them – but he was very clever and very well traveled – and a very naughty rebel for his utter support for the Palestinians. In fact he was so naughty (a Roman Catholic Priest – and he certainly never did any of “that”) that he got banished to Salford Cathedral – to serve his Penance, rather than getting The Little Church as Parish Priest he obviously thought should be his – in a little village in Lancashire – near the River Ribble where he grew up. The Catholic Church never looked after him – and he hadn’t done anything wrong. The only person who did look after him – for many years in his old age – was a very nice young man who was born in Morocco. He knew their family and helped him get a student visa to the UK.
I have seen the film Wag the Dog – and I didn’t like it – but what has been going on over the past 50 years or so (when exactly was the USS Liberty attacked) is completely ridiculous, and I still do not understand it.
Maybe if the Welsh had spent the last few hundred years promoting the idea that Jesus was actually born in a little village in Wales, then they would be able to control The United States of America’s foreign policy.
I know there is something going on I do not understand…Maybe this Habba bloke can explain it.
I seriously do not understand it.
I am amazed The Americans haven’t already turned it to Glass. They’ve buggered up nearly every country anywhere close.
All hell will break loose – if they ever get it.

To think, you have spent all evening on a bank holiday Friday posting to this blog; are you lonely or something?
“Former counter-terrorism detective David Videcette has blasted a central London council’s plans to scrap CCTV cameras at a time when the British capital faces a ‘severe’ terrorist threat.”
“Westminster City Council intends to scrap 75 cameras within its boundaries in order to save £2.7 million”
I would say that allowing camera’s to be scrapped in the heart of London, is a sign that the “severe” threat level issued, is a false one. Or and it’s within the realms of possibility, that allowing those camera’s to be removed, opens up a window of opportunity for the security service to..well you get the idea.

Yep, one get’s the idea; bit like Paris demanding Nice ‘wipe’ all the CCTV of the ‘ALLEGED’ mass truck ‘killings’.
Or, come to think of it the TOTAL lack of even ONE CCTV image of any of the ‘so-called’ London 7/7 bombers on an Underground Staion or train, and the three cameras on the blown-up bus were said not to be working (although the bus had been extraordinarily ‘overhauled the weekend before, by an ‘unknown crew’ of engineers (normally it was the same guys who came for each overhaul/checkup).
Or the ‘out of action’ CCTV’s when Princess Di was assassinated, though a guy entering the tunnel minutes before got a speeding ticket on the CCTV’s evidence….
Anyhow, it doesn’t make much difference if they remove the lot – the last thing they’ll show you is their agents or Patsies ‘at it’.
Thanks all for the very helpful advice about giving up smoking. I feel more confident now.
I will just say to ‘fwl’ at August 26, 2016 at 07:46, in the early 1990s, when the siege of Sarajevo finally ended, one of the first aid lorries into the starving city contained nothing but cigarettes – cigarettes were the main form of currency during the siege.
Likewise, Romania was one of the most repressive of the old eastern bloc countries (you could be sentenced to death if you were found in possession of a typewriter, for instance). During Ceaucescu’s wonderful reign Kent cigarettes were the main form of currency.
There are many other examples of nicotine currency.
I’m not quite sure what this says about the human condition.
I also had a heck of a job giving up smoking – it literally took years of ‘stop/start’; I notice one guy tried chewing vitamin C tablets; I tried hot chilli peppers, and horseradish (not at the same time). It was far, far easier to give up hashish, opium and Morphine – and I am not exaggerating But, keep trying; eventually, like me, you’ll succeed (and I only started smoking when I was 23, in Istanbul, to mix with the hash)!.

Michael, I was in support of Brexit, but it’s not going to happen (Washington will never allow it).
You do realise that, don’t you?
Britain is a vassal state of America, and until people understand that fact nothing will ever change.
“BREXIT means BREXIT” Islamaphobic Theresa May
The same Theresa May who, as home secretary, appointed one judge after the other to the Westminster child sex abuse enquiry, and both judges, who both had very compromised backgrounds, have resigned.
May should not be prime minister. She should be in the dock facing prosecution, along with all the other pieces of slime in Westminster and the media.
In the aftermath of the Brexit vote, as far as I’m aware the only politician who called for article 50 to be invoked immediately was Mr Corbyn.
I think Theresa should be given a little time to settle into the job, after all, nobody thought Dave Cameron would resign so rapidly, he was expected top hang on for months.
The Hinkley Point C project is said to cost a billion pounds more a year, for its expected lifetime.
Theresa did us all a great service by yanking out the FRENCH plug.
http://news.sky.com/story/hinkley-point-not-essential-for-uk-energy-10552188
A new nuclear power plant at Hinkley Point is not needed for the UK to meet its energy and climate change targets, a report claims.
The Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU) argues that more wind farms and gas-fired power stations would be enough to keep the lights on, while also saving £1bn a year.
The new power infrastructure would also have to be combined with measures to manage energy demand, but the ECIU says its research shows Hinkley Point C is “not essential”.
The dichotomy between want the UK really wants/needs, and what Washington wants/needs…
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-dong-energy-windfarm-approval-idUSKCN10R100
Am island country like the UK could easily get all its energy needs from renewables; but big corporations don’t make any money out of it; and the only reason that the UK is keeping a nuclear plant operating is to supply fuel for weapons of mass destruction; weapons of mass destruction that are controlled entirely from Washington.
Perhaps you should go look up the word ‘traitor’ in a dictionary.
RobG completely agree with you,
the only reason we have a Nuclear power base is because of nuclear weapons, if we did not have nuclear power, they could never convince enough gullible students to pay to go to university to learn nuclear physics, if the only jobs at the end, would be designing /making/testing nuclear weapons.
@Michael Norton – “I think Theresa should be given a little time to settle into the job, after all, nobody thought Dave Cameron would resign so rapidly, he was expected top hang on for months.”
Talk for yourself, Michael. I and many others realised that Cameron would resign within hours if Leave won.

Scottish independence is a must.
Ms. Sturgeon won the Scottish leadership at the ballot box. She also fought for a remain result in Scotland in the EU referendum. I voted Brexit, but democracy has given her the right to strut, as you call it, on behalf of the Scottish voters.
“I voted Brexit, but democracy has given her the right to strut, as you call it, on behalf of the Scottish voters.”
Er, no, it hasn’t. Scotland voted to remain a part of the UK and the EU referendum was a UK decision. The only thing Sturgeon has the right to do is shut up and accept the democratic decision of the UK.
Whether one supports British EU membership or Scottish membership of Britain or not, it is utterly dishonest of Nicola Sturgeon to pretend that Brexit would change things so much in Scotland that another independence referendum is called for. Scotland does 65% of its external trade with the rest of Britain and a total of 10% with the other 27 EU countries. In Scotland the independence issue is far far more important than the question of Scotland being inside or outside the EU. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar or deluded.
@Rob – Are you aware that in the recent Scottish general election the SNP lost its majority in the Scottish Parliament?
I was going to put together my own piece about this, but as usual Aaron and Melissa Dykes have beaten me to it…

Yes, but with an overwhelming majority of the constituency vote (first choice vote). Many voters were fooled by the media to give their 2nd choice, regional vote to other parties.
The Scottish voting system is designed to prevent majority government. The fact that the SNP have already broken that barrier shows how solid their vote is.
Sorry Rob G, this was in reply to N above.

If this is the case, and I fear it is, the depravity of our government, the US government, the state led media and associated Syria Campaign support groups have reached a new level of perversion of Humanity. The White Helmets have been demonstrated to be a primarily US and NATO funded organisation embedded in Al Nusra and ISIS held areas exclusively.
This is an alleged “non-governmental” organisation, the definition of an NGO, that thus far has received funding from at least three major NATO governments, including $23 million from the US Government and $29 million (£19.7 million) from the UK Government, $4.5 million (€4 million) from the Dutch Government. In addition, it receives material assistance and training funded and run by a variety of other EU Nations.

Why do you call her Islamophobic?
There are probably many more Islamic fundamentalists out and about with 7th Century violent (psychological and physical) fundamentalist interpretations, even in ‘mainstream’ Islam, today than in recent history. Both in Europe and elsewhere.
Were you not paying attention when Craig called her that? Are you dysfunctional, or something?
You think what western Christians have done doesn’t compare to 11th and 12th century barbarism of the Crusades? And many members within these “Islamist” groups are western special forces, barbaric mercenaries from allover the world and some who were held in medieval torture black sites run by Christian scum bastards who brainwash the stupid masses to hide their evil.
The Crusades may have been sanctioned by the pope but honest historians write that they were all about controlling the Silk Road which led to Jerusalem. There were many trading routes along it; at each one goods were bought and sold for the next part of the journey, each trade raising the prices. Western nobles wanted to control it for the taxes they could raise at each trading post, while paying next to nothing themselves for the same goods. It was an economic war sold to everyone since as a religious war.
dragged before what Parliament? MN, those cowards who dare not debate or discuss the referendum or dare it may be suggested, be seen to vote on it.
Such vote in Parliament would have to be whipped, but would still have many Tory MP’s showing their true allegiance. It would show that the Conservative party is as split as the Labour party, but they respect their leader.
BTW. Abstentions should not be accepted as it was a referendum with a yes or no option.
Massive blast Chimay, Belgium, on the border with France
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/aug/26/belgium-explosion-chimay-sports-centre-collapses-fatal
Almost certainly this explosion has been caused on purpose, there seems to be a lock-down on any updates over the last 24 plus hours.
How can you straight away say “it is probably a gas explosion, almost certainly not terror”
unless you have prior knowledge of what has gone on?
How can you have a massive gas-blast, if you are not connected to the national grid?
If it was propane, then someone has brought propane into the sports center.
Legally propane has to be stored outside the building in a locked brathable compound.
There is no way a council sports center would be legally storing propane cylinders inside a sports center.
Why were people inside the sports center, after midnight?
One non-terror possibility, they were operating an illegal still.
My money is on terror.
My money is on the illegal still.

That’s good, there is nothing the markets hate more than uncertainty. If businesses know for sure what the future will bring they can plan for the future and invest in the future.
Casting doubts and creating uncertainty can only be bad for Britain and bad for Scotland.
“If businesses know for sure what the future will bring they can plan for the future and invest in the future.’
Businesses don’t do that any more.
“…The credit system has been warped into an increasingly perverse interface with rent-extracting activities. Bank credit is directed into the property sector, with preference to rent-extraction privileges, not the goods- and-service sector. In boom times, the financial sector injects more credit into the real estate, stock, and bond markets (and, to a lesser extent, to consumers via “home equity” loans and credit card debt) than it extracts in debt service (interest and amortization). The effect is to increase asset prices faster than debt levels. Applauded as “wealth creation,” this asset-price inflation improves the economy’s net worth in the short run….
“…The 2008 financial crash pushed the bubble economy to a new stage, characterized by foreclosures and bailouts. Faced with a choice between saving the “real” economy by writing down its debt burden or reimbursing the banks (and ultimately their bondholders and counterparties) for losses and defaults on loans gone bad, the policy response of the US and European governments and their central banks was to save the banks and bondholders (who incidentally are the largest class of political campaign contributors). This policy choice preserved the remarkable gains that the “One Percent” had made, while keeping the debts in place for the “99 Percent.” This accelerated the polarization that already was gaining momentum between creditors and debtors. The political consequence was to subsidize the emerging financial oligarchy.
In light of the fact that “debts that can’t be paid, won’t be paid,” the policy question concerns how they “won’t be paid.” Will resolving the debt overhang favor creditors or debtors? Will it take the form of wage garnishments and foreclosure, and privatization selloffs by distressed governments? Or will it take the form of debt write- downs to bring mortgage debts and student loan debts in line with the ability to pay? This policy choice will determine whether “real” economic growth will recover or succumb to post-bubble depression, negative equity, emigration of young skilled labor, and a “lost decade.” According to our analysis, the present choice of financial and fiscal austerity in much of Europe threatens to subject debt-ridden economies to needless tragedy.”

__________
Just like the overblown GERS figures that were dreamt up, firstly by Ian Lang govenor general to Scotland in the the 90’s. Or the theft of 6000 square miles of Scottish seas in 1999, stolen through the the Scottish Adjacent Boundaries Order, signed off by Blair, Brown and HRH Saddlebag Face.
Which saw Scotland’s maratime border moved from Berwick-Upon-Tweed to above the Firth of Tay. It was done to allow oil installations to fall under English jurisdiction, and to deprive Scotland oil revenue figures.
Scotland must remove Westminster from the equation, if its to grow its economy.
So if the GERS figures aren’t accurate why do the SNP spend so much time quoting them? Why did they use them in their White Paper as an argument for independence?
There is no, and never has been a national maritime border between Scotland and England. There is a boundary of legal jurisdiction which is right where it has always been and their is a boundary marking where responsibility for fisheries starts and ends. Not that it matters, the Scottish government spends the total revenue they receive from North Sea oil in just ten hours.
Fred.
http://web.archive.org/web/20080516173733/http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si1999/19991126.htm
Stealing Scottish maratime waters, using bogus fishing laws, to include profitable oil installations is still stealing.
Fred.
“The shocking thing about this secret order is that it was not openly discussed in the Commons, passed by the house of Lords and then passed by a very select Labour and Liberal committee in the Scottish Office.”
“One wonders if, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the First of Scotland, knew how undemocratic this order was before she signed it ?”
“This unjust act secretly passed, without the consent of the Scottish People took approximately 15% of oil and gas revenues out of the Scottish sector of the North Sea taking £2.2 Billion out of the Scottish economy. This lost revenue is more than the proposed £35 Billion Scottish budget cuts for the next 15 years (£2.16 Billion per year) ”
“This order was passed on the grounds of Scottish and English fishing rights.
Why then did Hamish Morrison, the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation chief executive, say that although the boundaries became law a month ago, the federation had not been informed about the decision and there had been no effort made by the government to consult with the organisation on the matter.”

(a) the boundaries between waters which are to be treated as internal waters or territorial sea of the United Kingdom adjacent to Scotland and those which are not (article 3) and
(b) the boundaries between waters which are to be treated as sea within British fishery limits adjacent to Scotland and those which are not (article 4).”
It is not a national border between Scotland and England, as I said.

The Scottish Adjacent Waters Boundaries Order was debated in the Scottish Parliament, a vote was taken and it was passed into Scottish Law, by a vote of For 122, Against 3, on the 26th of May 1999.
