Facebook Censorship, Mad Ben Nimmo and the Atlantic Council 466

Facebook has deleted all of my posts from July 2017 to last week because I am, apparently, a Russian Bot. For a while I could not add any new posts either, but we recently found a way around that, at least for now. To those of you tempted to say “So what?”, I would point out that over two thirds of visitors to my website arrive via my posting of the articles to Facebook and Twitter. Social media outlets like this blog, which offer an alternative to MSM propaganda, are hugely at the mercy of these corporate gatekeepers.

Facebook’s plunge into censorship is completely open and admitted, as is the fact it is operated for Facebook by the Atlantic Council – the extreme neo-con group part funded by NATO and whose board includes serial war criminal Henry Kissinger, Former CIA Heads Michael Hayden and Michael Morrell, and George Bush’s chief of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff, among a whole list of horrors.

The staff are worse than the Board. Their lead expert on Russian bot detection is an obsessed nutter named Ben Nimmo, whose fragile grip on reality has been completely broken by his elevation to be the internet’s Witchfinder-General. Nimmo, grandly titled “Senior Fellow for Information Defense at the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab”, is the go-to man for Establishment rubbishing of citizen journalists, and as with Joseph McCarthy or Matthew Clarke, one day society will sufficiently recover its balance for it to be generally acknowledged that this kind of witch-hunt nonsense was not just an aberration, but a manifestation of the evil it claimed to fight.

There is no Establishment cause Nimmo will not aid by labeling its opponents as Bots. This from the Herald newspaper two days ago, where Nimmo uncovers the secret web of Scottish Nationalist bots that dominate the internet, and had the temerity to question the stitch-up of Alex Salmond.

Nimmo’s proof? 2,000 people had used the hashtag #Dissolvetheunion on a total of 10,000 tweets in a week. That’s five tweets per person on average. In a week. Obviously a massive bot-plot, eh?

When Ben’s great expose for the Herald was met with widespread ridicule, he doubled down on it by producing his evidence – a list of the top ten bots he had uncovered in this research. Except that they are almost all, to my certain knowledge, not bots but people. But do not decry Ben’s fantastic forensic skills, for which NATO and the CIA fund the Atlantic Council. Ben’s number one suspect was definitely a bot. He had got the evil kingpin. He had seen through its identity despite its cunning disguise. That disguise included its name, IsthisAB0T, and its profile, where it called itself a bot for retweets on Independence. Thank goodness for Ben Nimmo, or nobody would ever have seen through that evil, presumably Kremlin-hatched, plan.

No wonder the Atlantic Council advertise Nimmo and his team as “Digital Sherlocks

Nimmo’s track record is simply appalling. In this report for the Atlantic Council website, he falsely identified British pensioner @Ian56789 as a “Russian troll farm”, which led to Ian being named as such by the British government, and to perhaps the most surreal Sky News interview of all time. Perhaps still more remarkably, Nimmo searches for use of the phrase “cui bono?” in reference to the Skripal and fake Douma chemical weapons attacks. Nimmo characterises use of the phrase cui bono as evidence of pro-Assad and pro-Kremlin bots and trolls – he really does. Most people would think to consider cui bono indicates a smattering more commonsense than Nimmo himself displays.

It is at least obvious cui bono from Nimmo’s witchfinding – the capacious, NATO and CIA stuffed pockets of Ben Nimmo himself. That Facebook allows this utterly discredited neo-conservative charlatan the run of its censorship operations needs, given Facebook’s pivotal role in social media intercourse, to concern everybody. The freedom of the internet is under fundamental attack.

Has anybody else here had the experience yet of Facebook locking them out of their account and only allowing access to it again if you agree to download a tool from Facebook to carry out an inventory of your PC?

    • Ishmael

I stopped using it after it demanded a clear photo for access, among the 101 other things it demands.

I’m also curious as to the info this site demands for use.

Most every site I visit asks for/demands me surrender info for use. For “my own benefit” of course.

The internet is one big spy machine as far as I can tell. Abuse is now ubiquitous.

      • Normski

Sadly people who don’t know how to trivially redirect such things to a very boring Virtual Machine – because otherwise they have no way of getting back into their Facebook account until they agree to do so.

    • Clark

No, but I was locked out of Facebook ‘cos I’d filled in a false date of birth, so they demanded photo ID which I refused to supply ‘cos of their facial recognition and tracking software.

      • Tony_0pmoc

        Clark,

My wife did not believe me. I said no I did not tag you on Facebook, it’s just that you still look the same.

Their facial recognition software is incredibly powerful.

It automatically tags nearly everyone, and most of the time it gets it right.

I think this completely outrageous, especially if you have never logged on to Facebook.

Facebook, Google and Twitter are beholden to the American “deep state” but you expect them to, what, come to their senses and apologize for doing the bidding of a declining imperial state hell bent on holding on to power at all costs? Has it occurred to you that maybe using platforms run by deeply manipulative and duplicitous individuals like “Zuck Vader” (his favourite handle from uni) as your primary mode of communicating with the world was a spectacularly foolish decision taken at the height of mid-decade internet 2.0 intoxication? You do know that it’s not going to get any better, right? The censorship and retroactive redaction of whatever they, or their CIA handlers decide is “fake news” or “Russian propaganda” will steadily increase as the empire continues to lurch and stumble towards oblivion.

Yes, the only solution to this problem is abandoning these platforms or at least not relying on them to transmit the revolution. Young people don’t even use Facebook anymore so your audience on there is limited to the dinosaur demographic. Quite frankly after all the lies Chairman Zuck spins to cover up the fact that his Facebook platform is addictive by design and that he and his henchmen manipulate the people they siphon all their lucrative data from I don’t understand how anyone with an ounce of self-respect still willingly helps to enrich those bastards. They also give Israeli propagandists free reign whilst censoring Palestinians.

Last year Facebook released an Android app that let users lock apps on their phone remotely. It was advertised as a security enhancing app. A curious geek took a closer look at it and discovered that it ran processes in the background and uploaded everything on the user’s device to Facebook’s servers. Photos, contact information, passwords everything. When tech journalists publicized this fact FB pulled the app from the Play Store immediately and claimed it was part on an “experiment” and they were going to pull the app after a few days anyway.

If people are too lazy or stupid to stop using a “social” media platform that tracks their every move in collaboration with the “deep state”, manipulates their psychology, censors and bans them, retroactively deletes posts, releases covert spyware apps and LIES shamelessly about what it does over and over and over again…where does that leave us when the shit really hits the fan?

It’s downright depressing how the internet is destroying peoples’ ability to reason and think critically.

    • Kula

It’s not too bad, divesting. Deleted Facebook and LinkedIn fairly easily. Put a workaround in place for contacts I want to hold onto. Got a Protonmail, Gab and Minds account. Most dire part was clearing all the pointless Gmail inboxes.

    • Baron

Spot on, Baalbek, and absolutely right (thanks also for the info on their Android App).

So French scallop fishermen are implementing Brexit early by kicking the arses of the English scallop fishermen. Ramming their soon to be non EU scallop boats as the French navy looked on.

First Macron slaps Theresa May’s Brexit plan down, then the French fishermen chase off the English fishermen what’s next? Spain taking back Gibraltar?

It would appear that EU nations know they don’t need to be nice to Britain anymore.

    • N_

Have you got a source for the French navy looking on? Couldn’t find it in the write-ups by the BBC or Torygraph. This kind of thing plays excellently in the tabloids right-wing British media.

Gibraltar has been out of the media for a while but could return at any time in the context of “EU supports Spain” and probably will.

The poshboy Brit regime have to be careful with France. They wouldn’t want incriminating material to start being released about the Princess Diana assassination. (Go for it, Emmanuel.)

      • Republicofscotland

“Have you got a source for the French navy looking on? Couldn’t find it in the write-ups by the BBC ”

        N.

Pretty sure I heard it on the lunchtime BBC news.

    • Bill Marsh

It appears that at least one of the boats is Scottish and there is this quote:

“Mike Park, chief executive of the Scottish White Fish Producers Association, described the clashing incident as “clear piracy”.

Speaking about the Scottish boat, he told BBC Scotland: “He’s fully entitled to be there. UK vessels can enter that French zone, it’s not illegal.

“The Peterhead vessel is going about its business. The French vessels are probably attacking it.”

      https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/world-europe-45337091

      • Republicofscotland

“It appears that at least one of the boats is Scottish and there is this quote:”

Yip, probably correct, the dumb Scottish fishing industry is loaded with anti-EU captains.

    • Alyson

The issue is that France closes the scallop beds from May to October, under French legislation, to allow the beds to recover, and allow the rest of the fish to have clean seas, with many food sources, seaweeds etc. British boats are allowed all the year round, under EU legislation, to scour the seabed, which leaves the sea full of debris, and the sea floor bare and sterile. The rest of the fish stocks are then depleted and everyone loses out. Scouring the seabeds is utterly destructive and should be banned or strictly controlled, everywhere, in my opinion. The issue here though, is the different legislation followed by French and UK fishermen close into the French shore

Racist Jonathan Sacks, loyal supporter of a Nazi-style regime in the Middle East, from which 6 million Palestinians are refugees, a man who has never once raised any issue with his fellow British citizens travelling abroad to kill, maim and commit acts of terror in support of that Nazi-style regime, laughs behind his hand as he compares Jeremy Corbyn’s mild criticism of Z__nists with Enoch Powell’s so-called “rivers of blood” speech. (I use inverted commas because Powell didn’t use the phrase “rivers of blood”. Let’s not follow Sacks by throwing truth out of the window.)

Pointing out that Z__nists are loyal to their own organisation’s state is, I would say, rather dissimilar to Enoch Powell’s vile 1968 speech, for which today he could be successfully prosecuted, in which he referred to black children living in Britain as “wide-grinning piccaninnies”. (My inverted commas there are because I am quoting. That phrase DID appear in Powell’s speech.)

Powell’s speech, for those who don’t know, was in opposition to the Race Relations Bill which, when enacted, criminalised the refusal of housing or employment on the grounds of a person’s skin colour or ethnic origin. Powell had a big problem with that. He was a racist. Jonathan Sacks is also a racist. Jeremy Corbyn is a man who has fought against racism, including anti-Semitism, all his life.

Sacks is a former chief rabbi. He is not the current chief rabbi, Ephraim Mirvis, with whom Theresa May chose to dine after she won the Tory leadership election when Andrea Leadsom dropped out, before she got down to the business of naming her cabinet. Mirvis is also the guy with whom London mayor Sadiq Khan met as his first “official mayoral act”. He too supports the existence of the above-mentioned Nazi-style foreign regime.

    • Ishmael

‘”his is low, dishonest and dangerous”.

Ha. Without fail these people always describe themselves to a T.

And to make this false absurd equivalent is dangerous for Jews. The racists are given a free hand & those fighting against are branded the oposite, No matter how bias towards Jews they are.

    • Shatnersrug

It’s my opinion that Sacks is paving the way for the more extreme military Rabbis to call a practical fatwa on Jeremy’s head.

I’m sure there are enough deranged ex-IDF with a rifle just waiting to take a pop shot at the zen master. People talk of Mossad doing it, but they really shouldn’t need to providing The I-state can ramp up the hate.

      It’s scary times.

      • Moocho

I do not understand why JC cannot sue the Mail and the Telegraph for defamation of character or similar. the absurd headlines about rivers of blood are disgusting, misleading and totally unfounded. I just hope JC is being a slippery snake himself, allowing this to take place unchallenged so he can launch his own legal case against these vicious attacks, let them hang themselves sort of thing. Why are they allowed to do this? has anyone met anyone who is buying into it?

        • Clark

Maybe someone’s done some media metrics /opinion polling which shows that the hysterical media are trashing their own credibility, like they did with the “unelectable” smear.

        • Clark

Things have changed since Blair’s first election. When the pro-war lobby seized the Labour party, the Labour party had a deserved reputation for socialist care for the people of Britain, which could thus be exploited.

But pro-war New Labour have been comprehensively exposed as austerity-supporting neoliberals. Their attempts to sabotage and then smear Corbyn have backfired due to their hubris. It is contagious; the more the media support their transparent smears, the more it simply contaminates itself.

Great! This will ensure popularity for Labour’s proposed reform of the media. The corporate media, predictably, will howl “attack on press freedom!”, and the electorate will just laugh.

    • Ishmael

Your post also gives me an opportunity to post this.

Cornel West, Cogut Institute for the Humanities, Politics in the Humanities talk at Brown University https://youtu.be/-2ntOqoCUQk

If we are going to talk about offence & oppression in the modern day, & what remarks like Boris’s mean in the context of what’s ongoing for African Americans. It’s really something he is still in politics at all.

Not just that, but how a woman of African descent can accept his cup of tea? Blows my mind.

      • Ishmael

That article talks about “living memory” but is inset anyway near a living as it is for those with dark skin.

Mr West’s speech really brought that home to me. And “we” talk about hard times, “dark times” ? Ha. It’s a joke.

    • Charles Bostock

” a Nazi-style regime in the Middle East, from which 6 million Palestinians are refugees”

A possible “six million” only if you count the children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren of the original 1948 refugees – which is ridiculous.

And insisting on calling the descendants of the original 1948 refugees “refugees” is merely to point to various facts such as the refusal – for purely political reasons – of the neighbouring Arab countries to absorb those descendants and even to grant them citizenship.

Would anyone still call the descendants of the Germans chucked out of Czechoslovakia and the former German areas of what is now Western Poland “refugees”?

      • nevermind

1948 refugees? Habbakuk Bostock is at it again…. refugees in their own country? Hounded out and killed by murderous fascists who threatened amd killed British soldiers at will?

Johnathan Sachs is an apologist to racist zionism, a lipsmacking grand hypocrite.

It time for the friends of Israel to be banned from our party system, no MP should be faced with their subverting agendas.
Our representatives should be friends to all countries (UN definition of a country), not some murderous haderlumping rogue state without declared borders.

        • Sharp Ears

Of course the descendants are refugees. If their parents and grandparents had not been evicted from their land and homes, often by force, they would still be living there.

Chapter and verse on the numbers. A terrible litany. War crimes for which not one Israeli has not been punished.

There were 711,000 refugees originally in 1948 and another 280,00-325,000 in 1967

          1948 Palestinian exodus: 711,000 (estimated)
          1948 refugees still alive (2012): 30,000 to 50,000 (estimated)
          1967 Palestinian exodus:280,000 to 325,000
          Descendants (2012): 4,950,000 (estimated)

Palestine and Palestinian refugees under UNRWA mandate
          Total (2015): 5,149,742
For the basis of this figure also see the UNRWA definition
Regions of operation:Gaza Strip, West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan

          Non-registered 1948 refugees Estimate (2015):
          1,049,848–1,380,714
Assumes approximately one-quarter of 1948 refugees are unregistered

Palestine and Palestinian refugees under UNHCR mandate
          Total (2014): 97,212
Regions with significant populations:Gulf States, Egypt, Iraq, Yemen, as well as Australia, Europe and America

          • Charles Bostock

            Sharp Ears

“Of course the descendants are refugees. If their parents and grandparents had not been evicted from their land and homes, often by force, they would still be living there.”

Well, in that case and by that reasoning the descendants of the Germans chucked out of Czechoslovakia and the annexed (by Poland) German territories would also “of course” be refugees.

But no one consider those descendants to be refugees, nor for that matter do they consider themselves to be refugees.

          • Ian

It would be a first, but you could try and acquaint yourself with the completely different circumstances of the two cases as well as the UN definitions. But you won’t because you really don’t care about either people, or their situation. Same old whiny attempts at provoking people and wasting their time.

          • Sharp Ears

He never likes being given the facts and links Ian. That is something he is incapable of doing.

Tony Greenstein has just published a blog entry on Sacks – “In 2017 Rabbi Sacks marched with thousands of settler racists through Arab East Jerusalem chanting ‘Death to the Arabs'”

      http://azvsas.blogspot.com/2018/08/if-anyone-resembles-enoch-powell-its.html

Anyone who’s interested in Mr Sacks thoughts can tune in to a BBC R4 series starting Monday 3rd called ‘Morality in the 21st Century’. It runs all week. One of the guests opining on morality is Jordan Petersen.

      https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0bgpswg

From Wikipedia – “Sacks provoked considerable controversy in the Anglo-Jewish community in 1996 when he refused to attend the funeral service of the late Reform Rabbi Hugo Gryn and for a private letter he had written in Hebrew, which (in translation) asserted that Auschwitz survivor Gryn was “among those who destroy the faith”, was leaked and published.” Gryn was evidently the wrong sort of Jew.

  • Republicofscotland

So The Human Rights Council, states that the government of Yemen and its allies including Saudi Arabia and in de facto, Britain, probably violated international law, including rape, torture and murder. The UN has also documentation of more than 30,000 civilain casualties. attributed to the allies.

If the UN calls for the arrest of the Mayanmar Generals and it has, by the looks of things over the deaths of the Rohingya Muslims.

Then surely the likes of Theresa May and Saudi King Salman, should also face arrest and stand trial at the Hague for war crimes, and crimes against humanity.

Very recently Britain’s ally, carried out a, Saudi led airstrike bombing a Yemeni school bus killing around 40 children. According to media reports, the Saudi’s saw it as a legitimate target.

I just heard this on the radio, and unfortunately I did believe it.

I thought well, what if you are driving it… I was a big kid – still am…

    or a little adult….

or what if you have 5 kids under 12 – where are the adults supposed to sit?

    https://www.gov.uk/child-car-seats-the-rules.

“Children must normally use a child car seat until they’re 12 years old or 135 centimetres tall, whichever comes first.”

I assume the people making these laws have never been or will ever have children, and they seriously dislike them.

    Tony

    • Kempe

On the contrary they like children very much and don’t want to see them killed or mutilated in car crashes.

      • Tony_0pmoc

        Kempe,

I already have one child seat in my car, and soon it will be two.

They take up a lot of space, and my son has been nicknamed Sir Shagalot.

How am I going to fit all my Grandkids in over the next 10 years, when I take them to the beach?

Don’t forget how Trump gamed the American public, calling on Putin to hack Hillary’s emails to prove that she was a pedophile criminal instead of a war criminal who would be locked up as soon as he became POTUS which has not happened yet. He just tweets now that the Chinese did it to take pressure off any Russian involvement.

The nut has put us all in his nut house.

      • Trowbridge H. Ford

Looks somewhat like Trump trying to kidnap a little girl, so he can take her over to the Clintons where Hillary will have oral sex with her.

        • Tony_0pmoc

          Trowbridge,

I did read some of the Clinton/Podesta stuff, and see some of the images, when it came it out a couple of years ago, but it was even worse than being taken to see Andy Warhol’s Flesh, with the college film society, with a bunch of girls in my class when I was 16, after my “O” Levels.

          https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062979/

          • Tony_0pmoc

            Trowbridge,

Neither of my two “Sisters” do emails, nor Facebook, except very occasionally.

I phone them up instead, or send very long text messages, or use Whatsapp.

I have no security on my mobile phone, and my wife is free to read them, as I am almost certain she did this morning.

I rarely delete anything, until I run out of space.

You can read them if you like, and if you still had your former job, working for the CIA, you probably already have…until you got bored sh1tless.

The three of them are really nice grls.

My wife is the best. She has even met my Ex from 40 years ago.

They both had lots in common, as well as having put up with me.

Now the Maybot (after yesterdays dancing shambles she definitely is) is in Nigeria, as she desperately scours Africa in the hope of kowtowing enough to secure trade deals.

Once the Tories would’ve looked down on their inferior colonial subjects, but now a feverish and insecure Tory PM, must jaunt around Africa, first and foremost, with cap in hand.

Changed days indeed, and by looks of the way the Maybots is hawking Britain about, to anyone and everyone who’ll give it a trade deal, a no deal looks certain with the EU.

    • reel guid

      Hiya Ros

Yeah May’s dancing. Jeez. What was that? The cross-country ski dance? Or should it be called the Brexit dance, since it’ll be as difficult and arduous as cross-country skiing. Perhaps she was trying to get everyone habituated.

Meanwhile Scotland can take our 27 (EU) partners for the indy jig.

      • Republicofscotland

        Hey reel guid.

Yeah, May’s rigamortis laden dance, reminded me of Prince Charles Scimitar dance. Where he danced like a puppet for his Saudi masters.

It would appear establishment figures will plumb to any depths, to get what they want, no matter how embarrassing.

We’ve seen the Maybot, genuflect like a contortionist to Prince William, skip up stairs holding Trump’s hand, and dance incredibly awkwardly with school children. I wonder what bizarre bodly movements she’ll carry out in Nigeria to gain a mediocre trade deal?

    • Trowbridge H. Ford

Just found Google Scholar has a listing of almost all my academic work. No wonder Trump is pissed off with Google.

    B&Q salaries
https://www.indeed.co.uk/cmp/B&Q/salaries £12k pa – £40k pa – hardly fortunes nowadays esp at the lower end where the operatives do all the work, serving at the tills, stocking the shelves, providing help and assistance etc.

    A comment on http://www.diyweek.net/b-q-overhauls-kitchen-and-bathroom-sales-process
    ‘BQ bob
No employees will be worse off! That’s what they said when they changed staff wages two years ago now older staff are £2300 a year worse off. But the CEO and directors pay has gone up. Morally bankrupt company with no shame.’

Mr Mazauric was taken on in 2017 as CEO by the Kingfisher group who own B&Q. The group who own a multiplicity of retail outlets (1,176), some under other names, made a group profit of £685m last year on an £11billion turnover.
    http://www.diyweek.net/b-q-names-new-ceo

Mazauric, a Romanian, is a hard man. He’s abolishing the 10% discount that senior citizens were allowed on purchases on Wednesdays as from next week. Gardening goods still qualify. Big deal for the pensioners.

Can’t find out what salary Mazauric is picking up but you can bet it’s in £hundreds of thousands.

The chairman is Andy Coslett, who has done the rounds, including the English Rugby Football Union.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingfisher_plc

Go hang, the little people, the 99%.

PS The alternative is Homebase, once owned by Sainsbury’s, and an excellent chain. Through other hands to some Australians now, Wesfarmers. The stores are a mess now and the stock items have been reduced. Cheap and nasty now.

I’m out of date. Wesfarmers paid £340m for the chain and sold it for £1 to Hilco. Stores have been closed. You can imagine what the staff morale is like. Pensions?? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homebase

    • Moocho

I’m so pig sick of hearing about all these ££££ing freebies the baby boomers and older are getting. free bus passes, free energy, free driving licences, discounts here there and everwhere, there’s more, no doubt. throwing buckets of money at the most privileged (and brainwashed) generations of people in the history of mankind while everyone else can just ££££ing rot. sickening. and i’m not taking about little old ladies living in sheltered accommodation, but those who live about as comortably as it’s possible to live but who still go around moaning about being pensioners and having no money, while clogging up large properties they don’t need.

      • MJ

“the most privileged (and brainwashed) generations of people in the history of mankind”

Privileged perhaps but surely not brainwashed. They are to be found among the under 40s I’d say.

        • Hatuey

Not only are they the most brainwashed and pampered, with pensions, houses, and everything handed to them on a plate, they are the most bitter and hate-filled. They collectively orgasm when relief to the poor is removed, welfare cut, etc. And that’s what motivates them at the ballot box.

        • Sharp Ears

To Moochoo not you MJ I hasten to add. Wait until he’s old and living on a pension unable to heat his home etc.

And I live on the streets, sleeping rough, if you must know

Your language proves your privileged status, assuming everyone has access to a home etc. Thanks for validating my point…. Moocho appreciated

Have you finished? I assumed you were Habbakuk.

PS Your assumptions about my provenace are totally incorrect. I do not believe you are on the streets.

          • Sharp Ears

If you are sleeping rough Moochoo, I apologize for what I wrote and am sorry for your predicament. Wish I could do something to help.

          • Moocho

Whether you believe me or not does not change the fact that I have been sleeping rough for around 18 months, homeless for longer. I’m in McD’s right now, who, along with JD Wetherspoon, have done more to ease the burden of this situation than all the supposed institutions (councils, charities) I have been to put together. I woke up this morning, no bullshit, on a beach, in the pissing rain, in a wet sleeping bag. There was no rain forecast. The first time that happened was in the build up to last winter, it was hellish, much worse than this morning

        :

Oh I think those so-called “freebies” are a GREAT IDEA.

Think of it this way, you “agist” moron: Take for example the UK state pension, and other stipends and benefits (bus passes, housing benefit etc) the UK Govt is obligated to shovel out, the way I look at is is that for every penny of that paid out, it is one penny less that the militaristic bum-buddy of the United States of World Horror has to spend on its weapons of mass death.

You seriously can not believe that if the UK Govt. did not have to shovel this money out – and monetary equivalents in other forms – that. the Govt., whether Tory or “Labour” (even under Corbyn-the-Compromiser-Too-Far), would actually spend it on socially beneficial programs.

Apart from myself I believe that Craig himself is ALSO in regular receipt of regular UK Govt stipend or stipends that the latter is OBLIGATED by law to pay.

I don’t know about Craig, but whenever I get “mine” (which, btw is shamefully low compared to the equivalent benefit of EU countries), I find some minor comfort in the thought that well, that is a few hundred quid that the bastards ain’t gonna spend on rivets for missiles – or whatever.

Recently a German 3Sat TV channel program: Nano ran an item on fake news, they had a chart purporting to show that fake news spreads much more quickly than real news. The item was triggered by the riots that followed the fatal stabbing of a German man by two people that it was claimed were immigrants.
The original story is retold here:https://legalinsurrection.com/2018/08/eastern-germany-hit-by-riots-after-deadly-stabbing-spree/
In this case the stabbing was real, but the rapidity of the spread of this news and the consequent riots must have been a shock for the authorities and demonstrates how volatile public feeling can be on this kind of topic
An actual fake news story was investigated by the New York Times: https://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/20/business/media/how-fake-news-spreads.html this one was about the Trumpster and his fans, someone made a false assumption and triggered a social media frenzy where the news was linked by 300,000 Facebook users.
The problem as I see it that you couldn’t hope to censor fake news, one tweet was all it took to set off the Trump item mention by the NY Times, it’s deciding if news is fake or not, people need to ask can it be verified.
As has been mentioned, alternatives social media sites are available. I would be very cautious about any peer to peer sharing site, it would not be possible to censor such an arrangement and it could be misused for various criminal purposes, as with the dark web. While it might be protected by Blockchain, the software itself is not perfect – see: https://thehedgecoingroup.com/can-blockchain-hacked/ then there is the trust aspect, see: https://medium.com/@kaistinchcombe/decentralized-and-trustless-crypto-paradise-is-actually-a-medieval-hellhole-c1ca122efdec
Finally there is the power problem, maintaining multiple copies of the blockchain over a huge network wastes an enormous amount of power, for example, the power used for data mining Bitcoins is staggering, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eq96L30SK6I
But I agree, censoring is not the answer, least of all by a body like the Atlantic council.

Just to make you aware that today is the anniversary of Judgement Day, as per Arnie and the Terminators. Sleep well.

  • Republicofscotland

This is just the beginning, expect the fight to travel on land as well, at Dover and Calais. I imagine the French might even turn a blind eye to immigrants trying to get across the channel one way or another.

That will bring Anon1 out in a cold sweat I’d imagine.

Only solution to this hysteria is that Corbyn raise this issue, journalists will not since they are supportive of it.

        Clark

This goes way beyond the editorial, the views that Kimmo have is considered normal among western journalists, thats why the russia/hysteria is so powerful.

‘Scottish’ Labour tweet a clip of ‘leader’ Richard Leonard saying that Labour has a positive vision for Scotland that works for the many, not the few.

However he didn’t mention that their enthusiasm for what the many not the few want doesn’t extend to abiding by the choice of the 62% many who voted to keep Scotland in the EU.

        • Hatuey

Because the idea that Scottish people as a whole might be referred to as ‘Scots’ is contested on the basis that other cultural groups, Picts, Celts, etc., are distinguishable from Scots. It’s a bit trivial if you ask me, but that’s the idea.

      • MJ

Because the previous poster, to whom I was replying, put ‘Scottish’ and ‘leader’ in inverted commas. Problem?

        • Anon1

‘Scotland’ is largely a Victorian construct and for that reason I place it in inverted commas.

        • Contrary

There is no political party registered as Scottish Labour, that is a construct to mislead, hence the inverted commas. How can you have a leader of a party that does not exist?

That is, it is the party that does not exist, not the Scottish people. Interesting turn the conversation took, though.

        • Jo1

The previous poster did that because there is no such entity as The Scottish Labour Party.

After an episode of Casualty in which a surgeon called Mr Levy, after putting on his kippah, intoned Hebrew words as he sobbed over the corpse of one of his patients who had died undergoing surgery he had performed (improbability ratio 100%), we heard the continuity announcer telling us of this new two part series on BBC. A clip from it was also shown.

Oh good. Louise Ellman, LFoI, is in it.

Producer of BBC series on British Jews felt ‘huge obligation to get it right’
Lucie Kon felt ‘passionately’ about making the series as she reflects on her search to find a balance of people to reflect the ‘plurality of voices’ of British Jewry

The producer of a new two-part BBC Two series about the attitudes of British Jews to anti-Semitism and Israel which airs next week has described how she felt “a huge obligation to get it right”.
Lucie Kon, herself a British Jew, said she “felt passionately about making the series” but that it took several months to find eight Jews who reflected “the plurality of voices in the British Jewish community”.
With a broad range of opinions, beliefs and practices, the group goes to Israel, on “a journey to explore what it means to be Jewish in Britain today and examine some of the most pressing questions and challenges facing the Jewish community at home and in Israel”.
In the first episode, airing on Tuesday, the group meet in Manchester to hear from the Community Security Trust (CST) to explore what anti-Semitism looks and feels like in modern Britain and reflect on how perceptions of Israel affect them.

They meet the owner of a local kosher restaurant that was attacked by arsonists last year, talk to Jewish Labour MP Louise Ellman and meet Jewish students who say they need security for Israel events on campus. The group then travels to Israel, and to a Kibbutz, where different views on the IDF are shared, before heading to the West Bank and to Efrat, a settlement, where they meet a settler who explains why he thinks this is just a regular town.

In Hebron, the group meets a spokesman for Jewish settlers and a Jewish activist whose father was murdered by a Palestinian, plus a Palestinian activist and a Palestinian farmer living near Hebron who says his land was bulldozed by Israelis.

Hi Craig, I just read your book Murder in Samarkand. I’d like to write about it on my website, (URL below) with a cover picture. Not that I can promise a big readership; I reckon my Mum represents an important fraction of my regular readers. However if you could send me a cover picture with permission to use it, I’ll give the book a plug.

    Thanks

Let us not forget that the likes of George Monbiot have repeatedly cited blogger Elliot Higgins at Bellingcat as the supposedly definitive authority on Syrian controversies. Higgins is funded by The Atlantic Council, yet Monbiot has the nerve to accuse his opponents of being partisan in their assessments of The White Helmets etc.

I had a very interesting mental journey on this blog today. As I always do. Across the years I have popped along to read, usually when I’m really worried and know I’m being sold a whole pack of lies. The fact that I’m here daily at the moment (sorry about that) tells me things are very wrong.

For me, Craig’s post was immensely interesting and topical. It highlights a problem – specific, actual and representative – yet reflects massive ongoing changes in society. A revolution, but of what character and kind?

For me, that’s where the interest lies. Everybody has different views on this, whether informed or uninformed (I’d probably shuffle towards this group).

Trowbridge, I had dream last night about CIA earthquake machines. Damn you!

Ben Nimmo looks like a skinny Harvey Weinstein. The look says ” I am beyond the law”. Until people started voting with their c***s. Really these Zionist pseudo-intellectuals live in a tiny bubble of exotic self-importance in which Israel is a significant world player instead of the reality of being a criminal apartheid state.

So in polite dissenting conversation it is now considered legitimate to say that the Saudi state was involved in 9/11.
    https://www.newsweek.com/cia-and-saudi-arabia-conspired-keep-911-details-secret-new-book-says-1091935
It is acceptable to say that US officials have been complicit in covering up the Saudi role.
It is widely acknowledged that there was at the time, and still is, a very close relationship between the US and Saudi establishments.
One is even allowed to note that the biggest consequences of 9/11 were the advancement of plans laid out previuosly by a circle of US elites (PNAC).
But to say anything else is still unacceptable.
    So don’t OK.
And certainly don’t go and read about it if you haven’t already.

It was only a matter of time, a blindman could’ve seen it coming, as a petition for Corbyn to go receives 30,000 signatures and climbing. Corbyn shouldve dealt with the anti-Semittism row quicker and better, a stitch in time so to speak.

I have being trying to impress on people, that most of the content on The Daly Telegraph, The Mail, The Guardian, The Independent, The BBC, ITV, Channel4, Sky TV, Virgin Media etc, is a complete load of Scallops….

Look at the State of The News?

Do I really have to post links to this complete and utter rubbish.

    It is not news.

When did you last have a Scallop?

Meanwhile, since this Afternoon, it appears that Facebook has personally Upgraded me.

My interface to them has now changed..

Has Craig Murray been upgraded too?

What is the matter with these people?

Do you have to personally slag them off for a much better service, and in my case, to be much more widely published?

Facebook are losing their market share. They have already lost most of the Youth as have The Daily Telegraph, The Mail, The Guardian, The Independent, The BBC, ITV, Channel4, Sky TV, and Virgin Media.

I reckon Facebook, are trying to hang on to us OAP’s before they go bust.

And No, I do not want to buy a Tesla.

“Now for the unacquainted, McCarthyism can be described as “the vociferous campaign against alleged communists in the US government and other institutions carried out under Senator Joseph McCarthy in the period 1950–4. Many of the accused were blacklisted or lost their jobs, though most did not in fact belong to the Communist Party.

It was a clever way used by the US government to frame and condemn all the big left leaning civil rights and social justice movements that were happening during the Cold War era. Professors, academics, independent media platforms, politicians or activists with left leaning messages were being labelled as Soviet agents by the US government, discrediting them completely of any legitimacy in the eyes of the American people through the widespread Red Scare.”

    Dear humanity,

Now more than ever in the face of the attacks on freedom of speech and dissenting voices, it’s imperative that websites like this are supported financially by people like us.

There’s nothing resembling greed or anyone capitalising on anything here. Quite simply, people like Craig need money to help pay towards the basics of life, including the hosting and running costs of this website.

If people like Craig, Wings, and others are willing to put their necks on the line for us, the least we can do is make a small financial contribution towards helping them with some cash.

We are talking something like £2 per month here which is nothing when you consider that nobody who enjoys this blog probably even buys their lies and newspapers any more.

Every little helps here. If you can’t afford £2 every month through PayPal or something, sign up for it and cancel the subscription in a few weeks. At least that way you’re giving something.

We really owe great thanks to Craig Murray and the brave people of this world who are willing to stand up and be counted. You can be part of that by donating and if you do then future generations may look back and forgive at least some of us for the crap that has happened on our watch.

You’re one or two clicks away from taking part and making a difference. Press the yellow button above to subscribe and help out. I sincerely beg you.

    Thanks.

Ref the planned attack on Idlib – Lavrov speaks
    He is right.

‘The planned chemical weapon provocation in the Syrian province of Idlib is aimed at maintaining the presence of terrorists in the area, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

The Russian FM, who met his Saudi counterpart, Adel al-Jubeir in Moscow on Wednesday, compared the terrorist presence in the province with an “abscess” that should be swiftly removed.

“Idlib is now the last remaining hotbed of the terrorists, who try to speculate on the area’s status of de-escalation zone; try using the population as a human shield and try repressing the armed groups that are ready for talks with the government,” he said.

The Minister also noted that the overall goal in Washington with regard to war-ravaged Syria, was not really helping the country, but to push for regime change.’
