The Presence of Evil 311

I have frequently explained that when I sat in the International Court of Justice and heard Israel’s lawyers tell lie after lie to justify or excuse the Gaza genocide, I could feel I was palpably in the presence of evil.

At least in the Hague you could also feel and indeed observe that most people in the courtroom – including the majority of the judges – were repulsed by the evil.

Yesterday that same evil, and the same lies, was manifested in the US Congress by Netanyahu, to an audience which glorified, reflected and amplified that evil.

Let us not forget that the large majority of citizens of the world, including majorities in many Western countries with pro-genocide leadership classes, are indeed repulsed by and reject the genocide.

The United States has now, openly and before the entire world, endorsed its genocidal imperialist project and rejected both the very notion of international law and the institutions which a more idealistic American generation worked so hard to create – the United Nations and the International Court of Justice.

Netanyahu’s slanderous attacks on the institutions of international law were applauded to the rafters by America’s political leaders. The whole world was watching, and took note.

The Zionist project per se is evil. To steal another people’s land and subject them to long and progressive genocide is about as evil a deed as can be imagined.

There is no such thing as a moderate or progressive Zionist. Apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocide are fundamental to the entire Zionist project.

I am hopeful that for an entire younger generation around the world, any notion that the United States are the “good guys” has now been destroyed. The reduction of international relations to USA = good guys vs Russia and China = bad guys was never true.

In Europe I am also hopeful that this will lead to a more widespread realisation that NATO is anything but a force for peace and stability, that the destruction of Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan was a series of terrible crimes, and that Ukraine/Russia is massively more complicated than the media would have you believe.

We always have hope, we always have courage, and we always have determination. The fight for truth and freedom never ends.

I know the Israeli fascist state has been talking about designating UNRWA a terrorist organisation since around five months ago, but according to this article on Al Jazeera’s website posted yesterday, Israel is really gonna do it, and the implications are quite extrraordinary:

Under Israeli law, UNRWA is about to become a terrorist organisation

Whether it becomes law or not, the Israeli Knesset’s move to designate UNRWA as a terror organisation is an unprecedented attack on the UN itself, as the refugee agency was established in 1949 by the General Assembly. Should it become Israeli law, the terrorist designation would give a domestic legal cover (albeit in violation of international law) for the Israeli regime to attack UNRWA’s staff and infrastructure, as it has already done by murdering close to 200 personnel, but this time without having to seek to justify itself or claim the slaughter of UNRWA’s staffers were “tragic mistakes” whenever it faces criticisms from its allies.

If it officially declares UNRWA a “terrorist organisation” under its domestic law, for Israel, eliminating the 30,000 staff of UNRWA including, presumably, its head Philippe Lazzarini, would become not only “a right, but indeed a duty”, to paraphrase US Secretary of State Antony Blinken…..

Just went onto UNRWA’s website and came across a briefing to the UN Security Council by the Deputy Commissioner General a couple of days ago:

Briefing to the United Nations Security Council by UNRWA Deputy Commissioner General, Ms. Antonia De Meo

UNRWA is the backbone of the humanitarian response in Gaza, but it is facing enormous challenges. Gaza is in ruins, [and] the threat of a larger regional war looms. At the same time, the Agency is under unprecedent attack, including imminent threat of being expelled from occupied East Jerusalem and being designated a terrorist organization by the Israeli parliament. Our operating space in the occupied Palestinian territory is shrinking by the day….

In Gaza, the blatant disregard for international humanitarian law is now commonplace. Women, children, journalists, humanitarian workers – all continue to pay a tragically high price. UNRWA is no exception. 199 colleagues have now been killed, the vast majority with their families. Nearly two-thirds of the Agency’s premises – some 190 buildings – have been hit, some twice. Many of our schools are demolished and can no longer be used as schools. In the past two weeks alone, 8 UNRWA schools, all serving as shelters for displaced people, have been struck. Our headquarters offices in Gaza are destroyed beyond recognition…..

      https://www.unrwa.org/newsroom/official-statements/unrwa-briefing-security-council

I know I intended to post the following article on here a few weeks ago, but I really can’t remember if I did so in the end. It was posted in May, but as far as I’m aware everything UNRWA says in respect of numerous claims made by Israel (the biggest liars on the planet, and quite likely the whole galaxy) still stand:

      UNRWA: Claims Versus Facts

      https://www.unrwa.org/unrwa-claims-versus-facts-february-2024

      Here’s a taster:

The Claim: Citing alleged intelligence estimates, several media have relayed claims that around 10% of all UNRWA staff in Gaza, or about 1,200 people, have links to Hamas or the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

The Facts: UNRWA has not received any information, let alone any evidence, from the Israeli Authorities or any other Member State about the above claim. UNRWA became aware of this claim first from international media and later from a press briefing by an Israeli government official.

Well that’s because Israel makes it up as it goes along.

The European Commission has issued its 2024 Rule of Law Report, criticizing Hungary, Italy, and Slovakia for failing to uphold democratic standards – This is comedy Gold from the EU, of which some of its members are backing the genocide in Gaza – whilst the EU shoots down Hungary’s PM Orban for attempting to try and barter some sort of peace deal between Ukraine and Russia – whilst the EU steals 1.5 billion Euro’s from Russian assets in Europe and gives them to what is basically a Neo-Nazi run regime in Ukraine – and I haven’t even mentioned yet Europe’s continued plundering of Africa.

Can the European Commission ever be taken seriously again?

    The report.

A week or so ago members of the European Parliament re-elected Ursula von der Leyen to a second 5-year term as President of the European Commission.

That is despite everything Clare Daly had endlessly pointed out to them about Frau Genocide. Or, more likely, *because* of what she had pointed out to them.

      • Republicofscotland

        Xavi.

Yes, the loss of Claire Daly and Mick Wallace’s voices in the EU parliament will be a big loss – both of them spoke a lot of sense, and you could see every time they spoke some MEP’s looked at their shoes in shame instead of looking them in the eyes.

As for the reappointment of Ursula Von Der Leyen, it’s very disappointing indeed, as is the appointment of Kaja Kallas. Both women are ardent warhawks.

Kallas is a former Estonian PM who is very anti-Russian – she’s now become the EU’s top Foreign Policy Diplomat.

These two women in high-ranking positions within the EU shows us what direction the EU is moving in.

  • Xavi

That loving reception for the butcher of Gaza spoke volumes, but I doubt it will be enough to wean Europe off subservience to Washington. The Nord Stream terror attack was cravenly accepted despite being an act of deliberate sabotage against western Europe’s economy and living standards. It is impossible to imagine what it would to turn Europe against the evil empire.

    • Republicofscotland

      Xavi.

I think the EU could be saved at some point if the Atlanticists were removed from office – there’s still quite a few American military personnel based in the likes of Germany. I think the principles of the EU were a good idea, free movement of goods, and people residency anywhere within the EU etc.

The (US) has its proxy war with Russia, at the expense of European citizens – and if it comes to it, Europe will once again be the battleground, sacrificed to save US interests.

Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that and Europe can win back its now-sullied reputation.

      • Xavi

I’d imagine most MEPs let alone EU commissioners have been groomed to be Atlanticist NeoCons, NATO nuts and zionists. That is non-negotiable for political advancement in most European political parties.

You are aware that the Russian Navy has suffered major losses at the hand of Ukraine?
(A country that no longer has a navy of its own.)

Imagine how the Russian Navy would fare against the US or Chinese or Indian navy?

Your admiration for the Russian Navy is …. surprising.

      • Bayard

“You are aware that the Russian Navy has suffered major losses at the hand of Ukraine?”

A navy that has more corvettes than our navy has ships can afford to lose one or two. Hardly “major losses”.

Where was the flagship the Moskova? Oh sorry, Ukraine sank it with a couple of home made drones, I forgot. Pity Russia’s sole carrier the Admiral Kuznetsov couldn’t put in an appearance but it’s been ‘under repair’ since 2018.

Average age of the Russian fleet is 31 years.

      • Republicofscotland

        Pears Morgaine

Aircraft carriers are for a projection of power to transport men and machines around the globe to invade and destroy – in this day and age aircraft carriers are also sitting ducks (a bit like the two-lame ducks England possesses) send enough cheap drones at one and they can do tremendous damage to an aircraft carrier.

Of course Nato’s raison d’être is to convince Nato countries, and other nations if possible – that Russia is a bogeyman and that it will invade Europe and slaughter everyone – of course most folk know that its all nonsense, Russia doesn’t have the military capacity to do so.

It isn’t a stretch of the imagination to say that Russia is already at war with Nato – and that Nato troops, and mustered proxy madmen from across the world, summoned by the (US) are already fighting alongside the Neo-Nazi Ukrainian forces – taking that aspect into account the loss of several navy vessels pales into insignificance, when you realise the magnitude of the forces pitted against Russia.

        • Pears Morgaine

” Aircraft carriers are for a projection of power to transport men and machines around the globe to invade and destroy ”

Might that explain why China has three carriers in commission and a fourth building?

          • j lowrie

Peace- loving people hope the Chinese navy will send a carrier strike group to the English Channel to defend freedom of navigation. Why do English colonials think they own it?

          • Pears Morgaine

I wasn’t aware that freedom of navigation through the English Channel was in need of defending. Please elaborate. Also perhaps why China has laid claim to 90% of the South China Sea and tries to deny access to other nations.

        • Stevie Boy

Worth noting that the UKs carriers, platforms for helicopters and American planes, don’t have a viable carrier support group and you’re unlikely to see both at sea at the same time as one is a spares backup for the other. A complete joke.

      • Bayard

” Pity Russia’s sole carrier the Admiral Kuznetsov couldn’t put in an appearance but it’s been ‘under repair’ since 2018.”

Unlike our two aircraft carriers, which have been under repair since the day they were launched.

    • Xavi

Indeed, why Craig left that one out is a mystery. A crime for which David Cameron was made a “lord” and considered by the UK political commentariat a perfect candidate for foreign secretary.

  • Republicofscotland

So it looks like Israel has the full backing of the (US) and the (EU) to go to war with Lebanon – according to its Foreign minister Israel Katz after what I consider to be a false-flag attack on the Golan Heights on Saturday – for me, after reading a few articles I think Israel committed the crime and then blamed it on Hezbollah – as far as I know no group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

A full scale war with Lebanon would probably suit Netanyahu as it would further drag in Nato to defend Israel which is all but a Nato member. A war with Lebanon would widen the conflict and possibly dilute the focus away from Gaza, and it would see Nato countries – some of which are already doing Israel’s military bidding – increase.

There was a very moving documentary on late the other night (on BBC 2, I think) which I just happened to come across after it started, about a young English guy called Chris who went out to Ukraine to help fight the Russians in whatever way he could, and ended up getting killed. There was a lot of video clips of him and his colleagues (other people who who had gone out there for the same reason) interspersed with clips of his parents and a Ukranian women he met and fell in love with, and she with him, and he came across as a really nice genuine guy (and you knew within minutes that he must have been killed). It was very sad, and tragic, but afterwards I couldn’t help thinking how many thousands of such documentaries/stories could be made/told about people/individuals in Gaza, and the devastation of those who loved them at their loss.

I just checked on Iplayer and it’s on there (and I must have caught all but the first five or ten minutes, because I see that it’s 90 minutes long). Don’t let the title of it put you off:

      https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0021dw6/hell-jumper

NB I can only assume that it was the propaganda being dissembled by the British Establishment and the MSM that led to him (and many others from various countries) going out there to volunteer, and that he wasn’t aware that Russia was provoked by the US and UK et al into military action…..

I recall earlier on this thread that you pointed out that RT was biased, that’s fair enough – Media Bias/Fact Check (which the Poynter Institute recommends we use for facts): MBFC highly recommends your links website – enough said.

It´s one thing to seriously discuss desertion.

It´s another one to present it in a manner very much likely PR, like Defensepost does it, which is a popular US military outlet. They do what RUSI does but in a less sophisticated way. They are presenting info from Ukrainian state sources as basically the same as if Russians would admit it and being in effect the truth. Which is somehow the same as to believe what MI-6 says about Russiagate to be “the truth”.

Defensepost relies on 2 sources in essence:

One is Ukraine’s military intelligence agency (HUR), as known the home of Budanov and the main Ukrainian affiliate of the CIA. Budanov is the CIA´s best and craziest disciple. That becomes even clear in the lengthy NYT piece about those 14 CIA secret bases on the UKR-RU border from past spring. HUR has also been responsible for carrying out terrorist acts or planning them before 2022. Very unlikely they tell you the truth about this war.

Sergey Gulyaev is the other source.
He is known to use his former military rank as a deceptive tool to cover his disinformation with the credentials of professional knowledge. Gulyaev was an affiliate of Navalny´s and is an ally of Kasparov. Gulyaev hasn´t been an active member of the RU military for the last 25 years. He was a TV pundit, reporter and politician and activist. And according to RU Wiki he left RU for Latvia in 2023. A hint that anything he says is rather fiction. Just look for his earlier statements about how RU fails and so on and so forth. All spread by British papers.

In any cases even in RU there are more serious sources than the ones used by Defensepost.

Are you suggesting that all Ukrainians are unwilling to fight for their country? Or just some?

And the corresponding question re young Russian men?

      • Republicofscotland

        JK redux.

I’m suggesting that young Ukrainian men don’t want to go to the front line of the conflict because they are ill trained and equipped – and are more likely to be killed due to Russian superiority in the weapons and tactics fields.

Yes of course there will be Russian young men who feel the same – however I presume that they have slightly better odds of coming back for a little R&R than their Ukrainian counter-parts – apparently over one million Ukrainian men of fighting age have fled to Poland alone – more if you take in other European nations.

Maybe that’s why Ukrainian Conscript Officers are roaming the streets of Kyiv like a pack of wolves – trying to kind of pressgang men into their failing military.

        • Pears Morgaine

” I presume that they have slightly better odds of coming back ”

If reports of raw Russian troops and the wounded being sent forward to get the Ukrainians to give away their positions by opening fire on them are true that presumption might be wide of the mark.

          • Bayard

“If reports of raw Russian troops and the wounded being sent forward to get the Ukrainians to give away their positions by opening fire on them are true that presumption might be wide of the mark.”

Yeah, “if”. If you or someone else has just made that up, which is pretty likely, then RoS is bang on the button. There is one fact that all the propaganda in the world can’t cover up, which is that there are far more Russians than there are Ukranians, so the likelihood is that there are enough Russians volunteering for there to be no need for conscription of the sort practised by Ukraine, nor the sort of desperate tactics of sending untrained troops into battle.

  • Republicofscotland

Apparently the head of Mossad Dedi Barnea has just returned from Rome where he was supposedly thrashing out a deal with Hamas on a ceasefire in Gaza, and the release of hostages – Barnea is said to return to Rome soon to continue the negotiation.

Is Israel flagging now? and does it need a pause in hostilities to recoup and plan its next attack?

  • Allan Howard

In an article she posted three days ago entitled ‘Netanyahu’s Speech Was As American As It Gets’, Caitlin Johnstone said the following:

Netanyahu repeated evidence-free atrocity propaganda about what happened on October 7, falsely asserting that Hamas “burned babies alive” and killed two babies in an attic [the latter of which I’ve not heard before and, as far as I’m aware, is a new one].

    https://caityjohnstone.medium.com/netanyahus-speech-was-as-american-as-it-gets-5e29a7c37122

With THAT in mind, at the end of a comment I posted in this thread a couple of days ago, I said: As for Netanyahu, you would have thought he would mention the 40 beheaded babies if it really happened…..

I didn’t say that so as to try and convince anyone who follows Craig that it was a falsehood, as I’m sure just about everyone who follows Craig has known for a long time that it was a falsehood/atrocity propaganda, and the reason I said what I said is because the fact that Netanyahu DOESN’T mention the 40 beheaded babies IS – and would surely be – proof to just about anyone who still believes it (and I’m sure that millions of people in the UK alone still do) that it WAS a falsehood, because if it really happened he would have undoubtedly cited it when addressing Congress. Of course he would. That said, it’s been in the public domain for months (but blanked by the vast majority of MS news outlets in the West) that just one baby was killed on Oct 7th.

Anyway, if like me you can’t stand the sight of the likes of Netanyahu or the sound of their lying malevolent deceitful psychopathic fascist voices, there’s a full transcript of what he said in his address to Congress here:

We’re protecting you: Full text of Netanyahu’s address to Congress

    https://www.timesofisrael.com/were-protecting-you-full-text-of-netanyahus-address-to-congress/

« Mr. Speaker, I want to thank you for giving me the profound honor of addressing this great citadel of democracy for the fourth time.

We meet today at a crossroads of history. Our world is in upheaval. In the Middle East, Iran’s axis of terror confronts America, Israel and our Arab friends. This is not a clash of civilizations. It’s a clash between barbarism and civilization. It’s a clash between those who glorify death and those who sanctify life.

For the forces of civilization to triumph, America and Israel must stand together. Because when we stand together, something very simple happens. We win. They lose.

And my friends, I came to assure you today of one thing: we will win.

    Ladies and gentlemen,
Like December 7th, 1941, and September 11th, 2001, October 7th is a day that will forever live in infamy….. »

« Three thousand Hamas terrorists stormed into Israel. They butchered 1,200 people….. »
« … compared to our population size, that’s like 20 9/11s in one day. And these monsters, they raped women, they beheaded men, they burnt babies alive, they killed parents in front of their children and children in front of their parents. They dragged 255 people, both living and dead, into the dark dungeons of Gaza…. »

… blah fucking blah fucking blah fucking blah

    • M.J.

Netanyahu did not mention that Hamas did nothing to people in Israel that they were accused of (even if we assume that the accusations are true), that Zionists haven’t already done to Palestinians during the last 75 years. Nor did he mention that Israel has killed, or ill-treated in captivity, at least 25 times as many Palestinians as vice versa. Therefore the State of Israel deserves no sympathy. What it deserves is comprehensive sanctions, just as apartheid South Africa did, and towards a similar end – the end of apartheid, and a full democracy between the Jordan and the Mediterranean.

    • Tom Welsh

“Three thousand Hamas terrorists stormed into Israel. They butchered 1,200 people…”

Oh, I see. How did those “terrorists” come to be in Gaza in the first place? And how did they manage to get out? Why was there no warning from the world’s greatest intelligence services?

And for $64,000: how many Palestinians have Zionists “butchered” since the 1920s?

  • Allan Howard

Just went on to JVLs website to see if they’ve reposted any new articles since I went on there yesterday (Saturday), and they have, the latest one being a Jonathan Cook article posted today (Sunday) entitled ‘More dead children. More BBC ‘news’ channelling Israeli propaganda as its own’. I don’t know if anyone has mentioned it in this thread – and if they did I obviously missed it – but apparently the kids playing football who were killed were Syrians, and not Israelis, as I thought they were, or should I say was misled to believe they were, as no doubt tens of millions of other people in just Britain alone have been misled to believe:

Having now learnt this, it just reinforces in my own mind that it was more than likely Israel who did it so that they could justify starting a full-scale war with Lebanon…. you know, the sort of thing Hitler and the Nazis did – ie a false flag. And if that’s the case, how evil is THAT!

Maduro in Venezuela is being accused of have a false election result declared. Blinken has said that the US has “serious concerns that the declared outcome does not reflect the will or the votes of the Venezuelan people”. Might the USA be considering, by some chance, that it would be, not only in the interests of democracy, but also America’s OIL interests, to do in Venezuela what it did in Iran and Chile? Might a right-wing coup follow?
