Real Reporting Appeal 176

Our new mini-documentary from the Middle East shows again the kind of reporting that no Western media either can or will do.

We hope to visit Damascus where Western media is giving entirely sycophantic and false coverage to the new HTS regime, praising the return of Pringles to the shops while ignoring massacres.

But we are completely out of funding. I have made an overall loss now in five figures on our work in the Middle East since October.

There has been not one mainstream journalist here showing the truth of Israeli bombing and occupation in Lebanon. There are some excellent local journalists but we have a far greater reach in the West, with some of our individual videos getting millions of views there.

The days when the MSM would employ honest foreign correspondents like Robert Fisk are sadly long gone. The likes of the BBC and the CNN cover Lebanon and Syria through an exclusively Zionist lens from Tel Aviv.

I hope to pave the way for citizen activism journalism that does not merely analyse from afar, but reports from the ground, even and perhaps especially in difficult or dangerous locations. If it goes well I entertain the dream of establishing a permanent centre here, employing local staff, which could then host star visiting “new media” journalists for extended periods.

Unfortunately to date I have not been able to make a voluntary donation and subscription funding model work, even for the low-cost guerilla-filming approach Niels and I have been adopting. That may be because the model is not possible, or just reflect my own limits of reach and my lack of fundraising ability.

It is certain that there has been extreme social media suppression of our output, but we have still gained a wide audience. I am therefore making an attempt to appeal for support for what I believe to be not just worthwhile but vital work, as historic changes unfold in the Middle East.

I do not back away from the avowed aim of defeating Imperialism and the Greater Israel project, with the weapons of truth and light.

But if this appeal does not work quickly, we will be forced to give up and return to Europe.

Unless you are so wealthy it does not matter to you, I would much prefer you not to give again if you already have supported. We really need to widen the number of financial supporters, and perhaps instead you can recommend to others.

I absolutely do not want anybody to give anything if it causes them the least financial hardship.

As has been previously mentioned, part of the genocidal agenda for gaza, and the West bank, is mass displacement of the Palestinians into a concentration camp complex in the siniai desert. This is already being constructed and now the politics are coming into play to make it a reality. All the usual suspects are involved in the support and funding of this plan. This is not a humanitarian option, this is genocide.
“Donald Trump outlined an extraordinary plan for peace in the Middle East by moving more than one million people out of Gaza and into Jordan and Egypt.”
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14326083/Donald-Trump-unveils-radical-plan-war-torn-Gaza.html
“Despite public protestations, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi is helping Israel transfer 1.4 million Palestinians from Rafah to tent cities in the Sinia Desert.”

    1. Israeli forces are blocking the return of Palestinian refugees from the south to the north of Gaza

    2. US president Donald Trump has suggested that Gaza should be “cleaned out”, with refugees being pushed into Egypt or Jordan. (Reports from Iran and USA.)

“(Trump) claimed the move can ‘bring peace’ to West Asia if Egypt, Jordan, and other Arab nations accept enough Palestinian refugees.”

Trump’s appointee Steve Witkoff recently proposed expelling Palestinians to Indonesia too.

    3. Trump says he has spoken with “king” Abdullah of Jordan about accepting large numbers of refugees, and that he plans to talk to el-Sisi in Egypt.

    4. It seems likely that mass expulsions from the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem are planned, with support from the USA and its satellites. NATO has set up an office in Jordan. Abdullah visited NATO in Brussels last month.

      6. Trump said: “That place has to be rebuilt in a different way,”.
“You know, Gaza is interesting, it’s a phenomenal location, on the sea, … The best weather, you know, everything is good. It’s like some beautiful things could be done, but it’s very interesting.”

Trump is empire with the sanctimonious mask of hypocrisy torn off. That is what liberals and neocons find so unforgivable.

The Democrats on occasion over the past 15 months cloaked their barbaric genocide of women, children and babies in fluffy, woolly language (often to the point of absurdity). That gave liberals enough leeway to defend them to the hilt.

The most extreme of establishment centrists did not require even the faintest trace of lipstick to wholeheartedly support the Genocide Democrat pig. For them, as with the extreme right, there is no such thing as a red line.

      • Brian Red

@Joel – Nobody here is saying that the way to fight what may be a Trump-supported Zionist plan to “clear out” somewhere between 2 and 6 million Palestinians, perhaps in the next few months, is to vote Democrat in the USA in 2 or 4 years’ time. Nobody in the Middle East thinks that way. I doubt many people think like that even in the USA itself.

If Egypt or Jordan actually had functioning governments rather than USA-owned puppet groups, they’d say publicly (in Egypt’s case without waiting for a Trump phone call) “We will not assist the Zionists in another round of removing Palestinians from Palestine”.

        • joel

Nice straw man. I was referring to the unconscionable support through 15 months of genocide for the Democrat perpetrators.

Even on the specific crime of Palestinians being permanently driven from Gaza, it was widely reported through late 2023 that Sisi was under intense pressure by Blinken to take them.

Why was that not a red line?

The following Aljazeera article is from the 2nd of July last year:

How Israel destroyed Gaza’s ability to feed itself

«Satellite images analysed by Al Jazeera’s digital investigation team, Sanad show that more than half (60 percent) of Gaza’s farmland, crucial for feeding the war-ravaged territory’s hungry population, has been damaged or destroyed by Israeli attacks.»
    https://www.aljazeera.com/news/longform/2024/7/2/how-israel-destroyed-gazas-ability-to-feed-itself

And this reliefweb article is from June 24th:

«Gaza: By destroying agricultural lands and blocking food aid, Israel uses starvation as a weapon of war against civilians

Palestinian Territory – Israel has forced over 75% of agricultural land in the Gaza Strip from the Palestinian people’s hands, either by isolating it in preparation for illegally annexing it to its military “buffer zone” or by bulldozing or otherwise damaging it, thereby destroying the Strip’s supply of fruits, vegetables, and meat. Furthermore, Israel has barred food supplies and humanitarian aid from entering the Strip, exacerbating the famine there and enabling the use of starvation as a weapon of war in its crime of genocide, ongoing for nearly nine consecutive months.
Since the start of its military assault on the Gaza Strip on 7 October 2023, the Israeli army has worked methodically to destroy livestock, agricultural lands, and bird farms in a consistent manner with the clear intention of starving the populace and denying them access to the staple foods of fruits, vegetables, and white and red meat. This has left the population’s survival dependent on the Israeli decision to allow or prohibit the entry of humanitarian aid.
Euro-Med Monitor field teams have documented that the Israeli army deliberately killed many farmers who were working or trying to reach their lands and farms, in addition to destroying thousands of farms, greenhouses, water wells and tanks, and agricultural equipment stores. »
    https://reliefweb.int/report/occupied-palestinian-territory/gaza-destroying-agricultural-lands-and-blocking-food-aid-israel-uses-starvation-weapon-war-against-civilians-enar

And this Guardian article is from November 21st last year:

«Gaza food production ‘decimated’ with 70% of farmland hit, UN finds

Israeli attacks have destroyed huge areas of land used for crops, with 90% of cattle killed, analysis shows

More than 90% of cattle have died and about 70% of land for crops in Gaza has been destroyed or damaged since the beginning of the war in the territory, an analysis of satellite imagery by the UN has found.
More than half of sheep and goat herds have been wiped out, while more than three-quarters of the territory’s famous orchards have been destroyed or damaged, the survey in September found.
Local food production in Gaza had been “decimated”, Rein Paulsen, the director of the Office of Emergencies and Resilience at the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization, said last week.»
    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/nov/21/gaza-food-production-decimated-70-per-cent-farmland-hit

And this reliefweb piece is from the 5th of October last year:

«Gaza: Israel’s destruction of hundreds of dunams [about a quarter of an acre] of agricultural land is expression of its insistence on committing genocide

Palestinian Territory — Israel has destroyed hundreds of dunams of agricultural land, depriving Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip of agricultural land and resources vital to survival, all in support of its illegal blockade of the Strip and tight restrictions on the entry of food supplies for almost a full year. This is an expression of Israel’s insistence on committing genocide against Palestinians in the enclave.
This destruction is part of a larger Israeli plan that dates back to last October. Under this plan, Israeli forces have worked to eliminate almost 80% of the agricultural land in the Gaza Strip from use by Palestinians. Israel has done this either by isolating it in preparation for its forcible annexation to the so-called “buffer zone” or by bulldozing or destroying it by other means, such as bombardment—all of which are in violation of international law.»
    https://reliefweb.int/report/occupied-palestinian-territory/gaza-israels-destruction-hundreds-dunams-agricultural-land-expression-its-insistence-committing-genocide-enar

And this UN piece was posted on October 3rd:

«67.6% of Gaza’s cropland has been damaged: Geospatial data shows intensifying damage to Gaza’s agricultural infrastructure

The latest assessment using satellite data produced by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Satellite Centre (UNOSAT) shows escalating damage to farmland and agricultural infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, further exacerbating the humanitarian and hunger crisis resulting from the ongoing conflict.
As of 1 September 2024, 67.6 percent of Gaza’s cropland – or 10 183 hectares (ha) – has been damaged. This is up from 57.3 percent (8 660 ha) in May and 42.6 percent (6 694 ha) in February 2024. More specifically, 71.2 percent of orchards and other trees, 67.1 percent of field crops, and 58.5 percent of vegetables have been damaged.»
    https://www.un.org/unispal/document/fao-press-release-03oct24/

And I also came across this B’Tselem piece, from 2002:

«”The bulldozer uprooted a tree and then drove over it and crushed it. After it uprooted and crushed all the trees in the field, the bulldozer dug a big hole, put the trees in, and covered it with dirt. Then it flattened the land and moved on to the adjacent field.”
From the testimony of Khaled Taher, whose crops were destroyed by IDF bulldozers in late April 2001

Regarding the number of trees and fields that were destroyed, Ben-Eliezer [the Israeli Defense Minister at the time] contended that, “In total, some 5,500 dunam of orchards of all kinds on the Palestinian side were uprooted and 4,500 dunam of planted fields and uncultivated land were destroyed.” The figures reported by the Palestinian Center for Human Rights, in Gaza, were much higher: From the beginning of the intifada to the end of July 2001, some 13,500 dunam of agricultural land, constituting some seven percent of the agricultural land in the Gaza Strip, were destroyed.»
    https://www.btselem.org/publications/summaries/200202_policy_of_destruction
    —————————-

But as Israel keeps telling the world, their sole objective is to destroy Hamas, and they never-ever target civilians (unless they’re forced to, because Hamas are using civilians as a human shield which, of course, CAN’T be a human shield if the presence of civilians doesn’t deter the IDF from bombing the location anyway). And presumably they destroy the agriculture because Hamas are using it as an agricultural shield.

    • Stevie Boy

Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of the Israelis.
Destroy the infrastructure: Food, Water, Power, Health. Used in Gaza and the West Bank, also Lebanon and Syria.
Take the countries back to the stone age and start again but using ordained, holy, ‘democratic’ methods.
Where have we seen this before ? Germany, Japan, Vietnam, Korea, Iraq, Libya, etc.
If you offend the hegemon they won’t just fight you, they will utterly destroy you.

      • Brian Red

Not many cities in Europe had >80% of their housing rendered uninhabitable during WW2, as Gaza City has had since 2023. They included Warsaw, Stalingrad, Kiev, and Konigsberg – the first three by German forces, the fourth by the USSR and Britain.

German forces also destroyed thousands of villages and small towns in Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine during the same war.
The scale of the destruction of homes in Gaza is extreme even by wartime standards.
Casualties in Gaza have been about 40000 Palestinians and about 400 occupation soldiers.

This doesn’t seem enough for the occupiers, who may be about to go full-on Pol Pot.

        • joel

It was a genocide perpetrated and supported all the way through by western liberal governments.

US Democrats; liberal governments in Britain, Germany, France, Canada, Australia; the EU.

Sensible, grown-up centrist liberals. The people we are constantly told are the best of us and, by extension, the world.

If I remember correctly, the so-called ceasefire in Lebanon is ending its first phase tonight, so presumably thousands of displaced villagers from the southern region will try to get back to their former homes starting tomorrow morning.
A fine opportunity for our host to engage with more ‘real reporting’, the kind you cannot do in an armchair many miles away. It will be extremely interesting to see what happens near the border in the current context, with the new despot in Washington DC planning to deport millions of people to places where they won’t stand in the way…

You’ll never look at charities the same way again.

“Throughout Israel’s assault on Gaza, people up and down Britain saw a live-streamed genocide on their phones, horrified that this slaughter was supported by their government.

But in the background, there is another phenomenon happening, which is not receiving nearly as much attention.

For over a year now, UK-based ‘charities’ have been making a mockery of the charity sector, supporting a genocide with no regulatory consequences.

There are countless examples of this in the last year. Take the Oxford and Cambridge colleges with charity status investing in arms firms and companies complicit in illegal settlements.

Or perhaps Achisomoch Aid Company, a charity accused of providing fundraising services to an Israeli group that supplies “combat and tactical equipment” to Israeli soldiers?

Or what about UK Toremet, the fundraising charity accused of sending UK Gift Aid to settler groups to block humanitarian aid from entering Gaza?

And then of course, there is the Jewish National Fund (JNF) – a goliath compared to some of the other charities listed above – who we believe the UK sanctions unit, the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI), must probe. ”

From prime minister Genocide Starmer of the monarchist regime in Britain, to president Gustavo Petro of the Colombian republic, government leaders across the world are fawning to Donald Trump. Starmer, for example, is publicly praising Trump for his role in what the scumbag calls a “hostages deal”, with “hostages” meaning the occupation soldiers who were captured by the resistance and then released.

(Why the f*** enemy soldiers captured in an enemy army base don’t count as prisoners of war – who BTW ended up being handed over in dignified fashion to the Red Cross – isn’t clear. But this is the same Starmer who thinks occupiers have the right “under international law” to turn off the water supply to the occupied population.)

It’s as if when one country in the world is led by a deranged dictatorial nappy-wearing narcissist who never grew up, and who used to play himself on television, almost all of the other 200 countries are led by Mike Pences wearing sh*t-eating grins as they affirm that yes, Petruchio, the Sun is really the Moon, or whatever you say it is, Petruchio. Next Starmer will say Trump has huge hands and is the greatest world-helper the planet has ever known, and that he ought to have not just Greenland but also Iceland, and not just the Panama canal but also the Suez one – and he’s really good at walking down staircases and slopes.

I think there’s little doubt that Musk did a Nazi salute recently, and did so deliberately of course, so as to let the Nazis around the world – and there are many, many more of them than most people realise – know that he’s one of them, and Trump et al ditto (I just happen to have come across several pictures/photos of Trump recently in which he’s doing his Mussolini look):

Elon Musk makes surprise appearance at AfD event in eastern Germany

I posted a link to this a few weeks ago:

Far-right activists from Germany spent US election day at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago

AfD parliamentary candidate and influencers posed for photos with now president-elect at his Florida home

As Donald Trump gathered his supporters, family and friends at Mar-a-Lago on US election day last month to wait for the results to trickle in, a small group of far-right Germans went largely unnoticed.
Among them was the purported semi-professional, one-time porn actor, self-confessed former cocaine user, convicted thief and hard-right candidate for the German parliament Phillipp-Anders Rau…
    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/dec/07/far-right-activists-from-germany-spent-us-election-day-at-trumps-mar-a-lago

And I just came across this, posted yesterday evening:

Trump’s Gaza proposal rejected by allies and condemned as ethnic cleansing plan

US president has suggested Palestinians should leave Gaza for neighbouring countries to ‘just clean out’ whole strip

Donald Trump’s proposal that large numbers of Palestinians should leave Gaza to “just clean out” the whole strip has been rejected by US allies in the region and attacked as dangerous, illegal and unworkable by lawyers and activists.
The US president said he would like hundreds of thousands of people to move to neighbouring countries, either “temporarily or could be long-term”. Destinations could include Jordan, which already hosts more than 2.7 million Palestinian refugees, and Egypt, he added.
“I’d rather get involved with some of the Arab nations and build housing at a different location where they can maybe live in peace for a change,” Trump told reporters on Air Force One. “You’re talking about probably a million and a half people, and we just clean out that whole thing and say: ‘You know, it’s over.’”
Gaza’s population before the war was 2.3 million. Jordan, and Egypt have both made clear they will not take refugees from Gaza. On Sunday, the Jordanian foreign minister, Ayman Safadi, said his country’s rejection of any displacement of Palestinians was “firm and unwavering”.
    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jan/26/trump-resumes-sending-2000-pound-bombs-to-israel-undoing-biden-pause

And also this, posted three hours ago (at the time of typing):

Colombia rejects US military flights with deportees and sets off feud with Trump

Trump had called for ‘retaliatory measures’ including 50% tariffs on Colombia after Gustavo Petro blocked two aircraft

Colombian president Gustavo Petro blocked two US military aircraft carrying deported Colombians from landing in his country, prompting a feud with Donald Trump who enacted emergency tariffs and other retaliatory measures.
The US president responded fiercely in a post on his Truth Social network when he was informed that two repatriation flights from the US to Colombia had been denied landing clearance.
Trump wrote that flights had “a large number of Illegal Criminals” and said the landing-denial order was given by “Colombia’s Socialist President Gustavo Petro”, who he said “is already very unpopular amongst his people”.
He accused Petro of jeopardizing US national security and public safety and directed his administration “take the following urgent and decisive retaliatory measures”.
    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jan/26/colombia-gustavo-petro-trump-deportation-flights

Trump is such a total slimeball, he really REALLY is, and like the psychopathic fascist piece of sadistic shit he is, he’s gonna bully everyone into doing what he wants. And the cosmic joke of it is that millions of people who regard themselves as christians voted for this scumbag. That said, they’re ALL scumbags – ie Biden and Blinken and the Clintons and Obama and Bush jnr and Bush snr and Starmer and Boris Johnson and Blair etc, etc, etc – only Trump is quite open about it..

    • Allan Howard

The Columbia/US spat over deportations appears to have been resolved (as reported on the BBC News channel). But I was just quickly checking my email before crashing out and came across this in the latest RT notification:

      Trump says Canada isn’t sovereign

The country is “totally reliant” on the US, and would be better off as the 51st state, the US president has argued

US President Donald Trump has vowed to no longer let Canada “take advantage” of the US, once again stating that he wants to make the neighboring country America’s 51st state. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Saturday, Trump said Canada would not even exist without US subsidies and business cooperation.

“Canada’s been taking advantage of the US for years. We’re not going to let that happen,” Trump told reporters.

“Without our subsidy, Canada doesn’t exist really. Canada is totally reliant on us, therefore they should be a state,” he said. Trump accused Canada of “treating us very unfairly on trade,” claiming that the US has been losing $250 billion a year to the neighboring state in trade deficits, while Canada does “almost 90% of their business with the United States.”

“I could stop that in one day, and if I stopped that, Canada wouldn’t exist as a country… I don’t want to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on supporting a country unless that country is a state,” he said.
      https://www.rt.com/news/611657-trump-canada-is-not-sovereign/?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=Email

Canada, Greenland, the Panama canal… where next! Anyway, I assume the $250 billion figure is complete B/S, as with so much that comes out of his big gob.

      • Pears Morgaine

        ” I assume the $250 billion figure is complete B/S, ”

You assume correctly. The US buys 25% of its oil from Canada, I’m sure losing that or having tariffs imposed won’t hurt the US economy… Many Trump supporters don’t realise that ultimately they’re the ones who are going to pay these tariffs.

Allan, much as I dislike the billionaires and their political puppets, I think you’ll find that all the hype over Musk and nazi salutes all emanate from the ‘left wing’, woketards who still cannot comprehend how ‘the people’ actually voted Trump into power. It’s fake news, don’t fall for it.

  • joel

Not a single mainstream western media outlet is covering the Swiss authorities’ continued detention of Electronic Intifada executive director Ali Abunimah.

Perhaps the greatest documenter of the genocide, Ali has been completely non-personed, as were Ambassador Murray, Richard Medhurst and Asa Winstanley after their arrests.

The arrests of the latter by the UK authorities were ignored even by supposedly independent left media like Novara and Owen Jones who deem those journalists to be outside the bounds of respectability. Owen has deigned to acknowledge the detention of Ali Abuminah, but almost certainly only because his fellow AS scammer Mehdi Hasan had already done so.

  • Republicofscotland

The irony of the Western media is astonishing as they ram down our throats via TV and radio that this is a remembrance day with Auschwitz in mind whilst they back a genocide in Gaza.

What shower of evil suits they are.
