Dear Mods, for several days I cannot acces the site via my smartphone. No problem with accessing it via my laptop. Can you please advice what could go wrong?
I use Google Chrome in my Xiaomi Redmi, run on Android 14.
I use this device as it is since this summer and it was quite OK untill 2-3 last daysTatyanaIt won’t load, says err_timed_out
TatyanaI’ll leave this here
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/XRm_PBstb7UETTatyana. If the site is timing out then your browser isn’t receiving data from the site. Yes I know that’s stating the bleeding obvious. Either your provider is blocking access or the site is blocking your provider or just they are blocking russian access. Have you tried a VPN? Or clearing your browser cache or a different browser?
The site is working for me and others.TatyanaThank you, ET.
The problem is I can access the site via laptop, bit cannot access via smartphone.
I don’t think it’s provider problem, because my laptop gets Internet via my smartphone (I get Internet from my mobile provider to my smartphone and share it to my laptop by turning on its WiFi hotspot). I use Google Chrome on both devices, still it works on laptop and doesn’t work on the smartphone.
I thought the problem might be in software for Android devices, because my laptop uses Windows. The problem started out of a sudden, and I hoped it has some simple solution.
Clearing cache is the last resort I prefer to avoid as long as possible, as I’m logged in hellalot of sites necessary to keep my work running.ETTry viewing it in incognito mode. Apparently this forces a refresh of DNS for the particular site only. Also try requesting desktop site with chrome on your phone and see if that works.
TatyanaThank you HUGELY, ET!!! Incognito mode works 🙂 Ah, what a happy chance to get your attention here! Thank you!
ETDid opening the site in incognito mode fix the issue opening it in ordinary (not incognito) mode also?
If not you could try clearing data for this site only:How to Clear Cache and Cookies for a Specific Site on Chrome for Android
Open Chrome in normal mode.
Hit the ellipsis icon (three dots) on the upper-right corner and select Settings.
Scroll down to the Advanced section and select Site settings.
Tap on All sites on the Site settings page.
Click on the website URL whose data you want to clear.
Every instance of
craigmurray.org.uk if there’s more than one.
I don’t know if that will fix the issue but maybe 🤔Best solution, stop using chrome completely and use a different browser. 😁
TatyanaThanks again, ET. I cleared for this site. Also, I found that I blocked side cookies while adding Mr. Murray’s site in the list of exceptions. I switched this setting couple of times, with no result. It still works in Incognito mode. Well, quite enough for me. 🙂
As to other browsers – I installed Yandex on my laptop, shared bookmarks and passwords there, and was happy, untill they started to bomb me with advertising. Apparently after some nice demo period was over 🙂
I returned to Google Chrome again, but found out that I lost access to my YouTube and Google Mail! Google just doesn’t log me in!
So, I avoid installing new browsers on my phone so far, as it’s the only way to access my YouTube account and I also have to sort out 600 incoming e-mails which loaded to my new smart, and all this causes terrible irritation, because it’s not as easy with a touchscreen as it is with a keyboard and a mouse.TatyanaNow I’ve lost access even in Incognito mode 🙂

Maybe try Firefox just to see if you can access this site with it. You can have both on your phone and still use chrome for everything else. You don’t have to switch everything over to Firefox.
ETTatyana, posting this here so as to keep the other thread on topic.
I did a search for “err tunnel connection failed” which comes up with multiple sites with information on it. This one seems to suggest looking into proxy settings/DNS settings and also appears to be saying it’s common with chrome. Given the earlier problem you had above I’d suggest you look at those. Also, still suggesting you install a different browser just to see if the issue still persists or it’s specifically a browser/chrome problem.TatyanaThank you, ET, for your help! I’m closing my business for holidays tomorrow, will have time for maintenance and I hope to make this f***ing machine work the way I want it to work, finally.
