If asked which news website I would recommend, I would say, without hesitation, Consortium News. CN posts good original material of its own (notably on Julian Assange), but also acts as a news aggregator, often re-publishing the best of Craig’s blog pieces.
Recently it’s been hacked, piece by piece, and now the bastards have even stolen its URL. They’re obviously pissing off all the right people…
Please give them a bit of money when their webite is up again. More info on their Twitter:
ChrisHello Craig,
You’re right, the website is also unavailable in France and has been replaced with this blog: A commitment to innovation and sustainability – Études is a pioneering firm that seamlessly merges creativity and functionality to redefine architectural excellence (sic) with the same consortium news web address [https://consortiumnews.com].
Best regards,
ChrisHans ZandvlietCorrect.
I’m a Dutchman living in Bolivia since 22 years and follower of Consortium News since over a decade.
I can’t access Consortium News’website in Bolivia either.ETConsortium News Twitter says:
“It was a sophisticated attack on multiple levels, including the theft of our URL. Once we have fixed that issue, and a few others, we’ve been assured that our (daily) backups are available for restoring the site.”
“Our web host has confirmed seven recent data breaches and now it appears that our site has been totally replaced. We have been hacked.”
So, hopefully they can get the site back up soon. Blame hasn’t been attributed as yet but I guess we all have ideas as to who might be responsible.
AGInfuriating but as correctly stated: They are thus doing an excellent job.
Of course an odd way to be shown.
In German they say “Viel Feind, viel Ehr” – “the more enemies, the greater the honour”Dr Con DassosConsortiumnews,
Once you’re up and running, please identify the culprits responsible for criminally and intentionally damaging access to your website…. especially providing as much detail of their identity as possible with verifiable evidence of your findings, but present this information as the TOP and SOLE article on your website non stop for a month. Please, please, please.
Thank you !NyahDiscovered the hack when I visited today, looking for an article by the author Wight. Did a DDG search and found this discussion topic. Last email update I got from Consortium was the morning of Saturday, Oct.26. Usually I get them several times per day, every time a new article is posted.
NyahI can’t find new posts on their Twitter feed. Please update here if you see any new posts on this.
HarrisI noticed odd things were happening to the site over the weekend here in the US, then the URL had been completely hijacked by Sunday. Very upsetting what these nefarious forces are capable of doing, but reassured to see that archives are preserved and efforts are underway to bring the site back online.
RobThis is more than a prank. It is a malicious attack on one of the world’s best sources of independent news. Let’s hope that CN is back up and running soon.
ETSite appears to be back up now with probably an archived backup from Oct 25. Assume that means they have control over the site domain url back
Wayne TuukI can get the CN website on my desktop but not on my cell phone I am in the US.
blimbaxClearing the cache (or cookies) might help, since in my case the bogus site persisted on the browser I normally use, but when I tried a different browser I had no problem. Or try adding a forward slash [/] after “consortiumnews.com. That worked for me on the browser I usually use.
Dr Con DassosThank you, that worked!
HarrisAlas I’ve tried both clearing cookies and adding a forward slash to no avail. I’m using Firefox. I am able however to get some previously viewed pages from my history. Any further suggestions would be appreciated.
NeilTry simply refreshing the page in your browser. Most browsers have a refresh button, or you can try ctrl+R or ctrl+shift+R.
cookieI found the redirect to another page kept recurring because there was a cookie added to my device that continued to redirect me to the same non Consortium page…I suggest clearing search data but beware…this will also clear your passwords that you may use for auto login…and if you have forgotten those passwords then you won’t get back in.
HarrisHitting ctrl+R worked, thank you so much!
NeilHmm… things still aren’t quite right with the CN website, with recent posts not appearing there.
But I’ve found that ctrl+R brings it up-to-date. Might not work for everybody. See suggestions by others already posted.

Since coming back online after a cyberattack, our readership is down dramatically by about 75 percent. Though our web host assures us we are live around the world, we have received many reports from readers that they still can’t get CN on their screens.
If you are unable to reach Consortium News on either your phone or your computer and still see that fake web page that the hackers left standing in our stead, it probably means that you must clear your cache and refresh the page. Here is what you need to do:
Apple Mac Computers
- Open Safari
- Select ‘Safari’ > ‘Preferences’ > ‘Privacy’
- Click ‘Manage Website Data’
- Select the sites you want to clear
- Click ‘Remove’ or ‘Remove All’
Microsoft Computers
To clear your cache in Microsoft Edge, you can do the following:
- Click the three dots in the top right corner of the screen
- Select ‘History’
- Click the three dots at the top of the History pane
- Select ‘Clear Browsing Data’
- Check the options for ‘Browsing history’, ‘Cookies and site data’, and ‘Cached images and files’
- Click ‘Clear now’
- Close and reopen Edge
Apple iPhones
To clear the cache on an iPhone, you can:
Clear Safari’s cache
- Go to Settings > Apps > Safari > Clear ‘History and Website Data’.
This will also remove cookies and browsing data. You can choose to clear the history for a specific profile or all profiles. Clearing your cache and cookies will log you out of any websites you’re signed into.
Android phones/tablets
To clear the cache on an Android phone or tablet, you can do the following:
- Open ‘Settings’
- Select ‘Apps’ or ‘Applications’
- Choose the app you want to clear the cache for
- Select ‘Storage’
- Tap ‘Clear cache’
You can also clear your cache by going to ‘History’, then ‘Clear browsing data’, and selecting ‘Cached images and files’.
Be very cautious in following these suggestions, as you might lose stored passwords or other data that you don’t want to disappear.
JRoWhere can we find out what actually happened to CN and why we still cannot get through, even with searching on google: Consortium News November 8, 2024? We want CN back and worry greatly about the terrorists that can control our world in this way.
ETJRo, their website is back up and posting articles since Oct 29. If you are having trouble maybe try some of the things posted in comments above such as clearing your cache etc.
We’ll have to wait until ConsortiumNews releases details of what they find if they do that.
