Another conversation on the RNC, immigration and Trump´s final speech:

“In “Unity” Speech, Trump Demonizes Migrants, Spreads Lies & Embraces Authoritarianism”

(I don´t see any more authoritarianism than there has been under Biden, they just exert it in different ways and sell it in different flavours and colours.)

p.s. the fact alone that the “wall” has been built by every President since Clinton, who started it, shows you in what schizophrenic state you have to be as a genuine leftist supporting Biden and the Establishment. I wonder what would happen if Sanders would run now. May be unexpectedly many who don´t want to vote would reconsider because may be suddenly it would all make sense in the last moment.

          I suggest Hillary.
Dems now promote women. Most people expect either Kamala Harris or Michael Obama be nominated.
I personally expect Hillary will stand.

Someone correctly pointed out: “remember when we complained about Biden that it couldn´t get worse”.

The only headlines today that seem to matter (both from The Hill):

“Obama stops short of backing Harris ”
              and:
“Robert F. Kennedy Jr. sees Vice President Harris as indistinguishable from President Biden.

In a press conference on Sunday evening, the independent candidate reinforced that he is able to beat both former President Trump and Biden — despite Biden announcing hours earlier that he is exiting the race.

In a nearly 30 minute address, Kennedy used critical rhetoric toward the government common in his stump speech, focusing heavily on Biden and Trump, while only occasionally ripping into Harris as an unknown entity.”

I assume Kamala Harris will be their candidate, having watched some interviews, debates with her she is quite weak and not a good rhetorican. At the same time, I believe she have much greater chance than Biden to win over Trump.

Just like Keir Starmer’s partner, Harris’ husband, Douglas Emhoff, is of jewish faith:

Left outraged over Kamala Harris’ choice of wine at Seder

Psagot Winery pledges to name a wine after Kamala Harris if she “continues in a positive direction, for example by opposing the Iran nuclear deal.”
Left-wing activists criticized Vice President Kamala Harris over the weekend after pictures posted on social media revealed the Passover seder she hosted for Jewish House White House staffers at her home included the Israeli-made Psagot wine, produced in Judea and Samaria.

The Clintons, both Hillary and Bill, have endorsed Kamala Harris. So unlikely Hillary would put herself forwards to run for president but it doesn’t rule her out for vice president running mate.

As I said the other day, it made no sense for Trump and others to mock Biden’s cognitive decline.
Biden was the best candidate for Trump himself, because Harris will not be any easier that is for sure:

Since it´s WSJ you are probably right. Or it´s just one of the countless idiots among staff without any hidden agenda.
What you see is what you get.
I assume with the Harris decision antiwar sentiment did play a role. Democrats are criminal but not stupid.
And I don´t share The Duran´s apodictic view that they have in essence already given up.
                          Why should they.

                            By Ben Burgis

If Kamala Harris really wants to show she is ready to turn a new page in the campaign against Donald Trump, it’s obvious who her choice as running mate should be: Bernie Sanders.

Exactly, probably psyop, there have also been “leaks” that Harris would be more critical of Israel if she is elected:
Quite obvious that these “leaks” are supposed to get the votes from the pro-palestine protest movement

Biden’s designated heir is unlikely to change US policy, however

Very good conversation between radio host Scott Horton and Matt Taibbi from July 18th, i.e. before Biden officially dropped out (though both are counting on it by then).

“Ep. 6084 – Matt Taibbi on the Trump Assassination Attempt and Biden’s Likely Replacements – 7/18/24”

Covering a lot of ground ranging from the assassination attempt, to Russiagate, possible replacements for Biden, and including stuff I wasn´t aware of like the “Transition Integrity Project”, which was a war-game/simulation in the summer of 2020 by the Democrats for various scenarios how a Trump win in 2020 could be countered or a Trump uprising in case of his defeat (- they don´t mention the angle, but this connects to TATYANA´s comment last week that, I think, suggested that Jan. 6th could have contained staged elements or at least silent complicity by some places in law enforcement.)

                                    For “Transition Integrity Project” see:

NYT article on the Transition Integrity Project by Ben Smith which Taibbi mentions explicitly (I think Smith by now has left the NYT)
“How the Media Could Get the Election Story Wrong

                                      What I said recently:

“The 1990s Were Worse Than You Remember”

                                      JACOBIN:
                                      By Paul M. Renfro

“The Republican right has always contained a subcurrent hostile to multiracial democracy. In When the Clock Broke, writer John Ganz argues that this reactionary force flourished in the 1990s and is behind the emergence of Donald Trump’s right-wing populism.”

                                      https://archive.is/CfgX3

                                      Sounds oddly familiar:

                                      “(…)
Though Ronald Reagan had ostensibly returned the United States to glory after the “malaise” of the 1970s, his policy program of “deregulation, tax cuts, high interest rates, and scaled-back social services” — not to mention hostility to labor unions amid widespread deindustrialization and offshoring — represented a form of “open class war waged on behalf of the rich,” Ganz writes. The rich won the war. While “the income of the top 1 percent grew by almost 75 percent” during the gilded ’80s, “the average income for 80 percent of American families declined,” Ganz explains. The poverty rate — especially for women, children, and people of color — spiked, just as the burgeoning carceral state increasingly served to discipline and warehouse the poor and the dispossessed.

Against this backdrop of staggering inequality and selective austerity, con men, kooks, and conspiracists had a field day. Figures such as David Duke — and marginally less racist ones like Pat Buchanan, Pat Robertson, Rush Limbaugh, and Jerry Falwell — connected with a disenchanted public through talk radio, daytime talk shows, cable TV, and other less traditional media. Less-heralded characters like Sam Francis and Murray Rothbard generally liked what they saw. For them, Duke, Buchanan, and other firebrands represented the vanguard of a movement to undo the liberal order forged through the New Deal and the Cold War. Francis, for his part, endorsed a “new nationalism” to dismantle both the “managerial” regime — a forerunner of sorts to the “PMC” — and the “globalism” that flowed from Francis Fukuyama’s supposed “end of history.” In Rothbard’s words, this incipient movement sought to “repeal the twentieth century.”
                                      (…)”

Interesting conversation again with Robert Barnes on THE DURAN on US politics.

I especially liked the second half. He explains much about Harris. Contradicts much of what I stated previously, that e.g. Harris together with Biden outmaneuvered Obama, who can´t stand Biden and vice versa, and who thinks Harris won´t make it and wanted to push a new Primary as to prevent Trump II.

Because Obama, allegedly, hates Trump for who he is and despises the Clintons for enabling Trump to ruin Obama´s legacy.
Interesting psychology Barnes suggests. Barnes of course being a propagandist but an entertaining one and among the stuff I totally disagree with there is a lot to learn.

Other examples: H. Clinton ending up as SCOTUS in case of a very unlikely Harris Nov. win? As a thank you.
Buttigieg probably no VP to Harris, though he is very well embedded with the deep state and billionaires.
Instead rather Pennsylvania Governor Shapiro now that Biden out Pennsylvania might be in danger.

“Empowered by the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission ruling allowing unlimited independent financial contributions to support political campaigns, outside spending during the current election cycle has hit a record $1 billion, according to a report published Thursday by the watchdog group OpenSecrets.

“Super PACs and other outside groups that can raise and spend unlimited sums of money have poured about $1.1 billion into 2024 federal elections as of August 15—nearly twice what similar groups spent over the same period in the 2020 presidential election cycle when independent expenditures hit an all-time record,” OpenSecrets said.”
