In that thread people argued on the argument that I’ve seen used against Russia, including by Mr. Murrey himself. Namely, that the decision to start the SMO only led to NATO expansion, meaning Finland’s membership.
As it turns out, the placement of permanent NATO bases in the Baltics is limited by law, by some agreements, and is not limited in the case of Ukraine or Georgia.
Unfortunately, the topic starter also mentioned the time it would take for missiles to reach Moscow from the territory of Ukraine and the Baltic states. So the discussion turned to a comparison of distances, maps, cartographic distortions, Mercator projections, outrage over the importance of the danger to Moscow when there are cities much closer to the border like Kursk or Belgorod… and the discussion never produced any concrete references to treaties, sorry.
I’d be glad if anyone could find these NATO-Russia treaties on Nato bases
JackSo of the prospect of peace under Trump, Biden try to sabotage that by approving long-distance missile attacks on Russia. Disgusting, reckless. Do Biden even know what he just did?
At the same time, I do not understand what Ukraine could achive with these missiles? Sure they could send one against Moscow. But what will happen then is that Russia will respond, sending more missiles against Kiev etc. And Russia have the upper hand + more missiles so Ukraine could not be a winner regarding this missile-war.
On top of it, it says alot when Russia still do not could target and taking out these long-distance missiles as soon as they reach ukrainian soil. Terrible military-intelligence.
JackUkraine fires first barrage of US-made long-range missiles into Russia, Kremlin says
President Biden gave Ukraine permission to use the weapons on Russian soilJust like that Ukraine could not hold itself from escalating the situation.
So what did this long-range missile attack result in? How is this possibly a game-changer for Ukraine?! It is riduclous. The only result is the destruction of Ukraine since Russia is still stronger than Ukraine and will always be.Fat JonI think it will provide the western MSM with propaganda headlines for a few days, which is probably what they want to divert attention from the Israeli bombing of Lebanon, and human clearance of northern Gaza to create a terrorist-free passage for the oil & gas pipelines.
It is all childish computer games to them. Except that the dead do not come alive again when they press “game restart”. I doubt they care anyway, as their belief is the planet is overpopulated and needs a few billion to be ‘disappeared’ by any means possible.
Isn’t this all predicted in the Bible? The good will die young and the evil ones will be left to fight it out amongst themselves? I just wonder what horrors I committed in a past life to have been left to witness this battle of the Antichrists?

Exactly, this will be something the media/politicians could cling on for a period of time. When Trump won the other week it felt like the situation in Ukraine would actually become better, it was a sense of relief, that the warmongering and the war itself, would die off, that the whole charade regarding Ukraine would finally come to an end. And now this. On top of it this missile-deal was of course signed off by the dementia-suffering Biden. Like, does he even know what he did?
michael nortonIf Joe Biden does not go what is going on, then who is making the decisions?
Somebody is trying to start a war between America and Russia to fuck up Trump’s chances of making peace with Russia.Fat JonThe same people who have been making the decisions throughout Biden’s presidency, I suspect.

Nord Stream saboteurs linked to CIA – Spiegel
US intelligence spent years training agents in Ukraine while trying to keep it secret from Moscow, the German outlet claimsA Ukrainian group that is allegedly behind the Nord Stream gas pipelines’ explosion in September 2022 has had “longstanding connections” to the CIA, Der Spiegel reported in a lengthy piece published on Wednesday. US agents trained some members of the sabotage team for many years, including its purported mastermind, Roman Chervinsky, according to the German outlet.

Of course the americans were in on it, absurd to see germany and the whole europe blaming Russia for the attack, when it was their “ally” the US, that now force them to buy gas from the US to much higher price!
michael nortonSir Keir Starmer, who is in Brazil, has allowed Ukraine to fire Storm Shadow into Russia.

It was approved earlier this fall but it sure seems Ukraine used them today against Russia.

Part of reason seems to be Biden’s deliberate plan to sabotage as much as possible pre the Trump presidency but also Biden is obviously more mentally detached than ever – its like he is not “there” anymore which makes the situation much more dangerous.

He should resign and let Harris serve out the last 2 months,” Silver wrote on X Wednesday.Russia is not doing good either. time and time again they claim that these long-distance missiles are red-lines but then when the attacks occur and Russia do nothing about it, west keep calling their bluff and just emboldened Ukraine/West:

TatyanaMonkeys throw feces at their enemies, and we throw hazelnuts. Does this mean we are more civilized?
I bring here some points from the article by Kirill Strelnikov:
The platform is given to “Oreshnik”: Putin will not say anything moreIn the conflict in Ukraine and in the area of international security, the last page has apparently been opened, after which it will be written either “The End” or “And they lived happily ever after.”
…
What was that?
The strike was carried out by the newest Russian medium-range missile Oreshnik, against which the West and especially Ukraine have no defense and will not have in the foreseeable future. The missile was used in a non-nuclear version (for now). According to experts, Oreshnik is a development of the RSD-10 Pioneer system: launch range – up to 5000 kilometers; capacity – 150 kilotons (200 Hiroshimas); probable deviation from the target – 50 meters (but this makes no difference). Warhead speed: 10 Machs (two to three kilometers per second). Flight time: Great Britain – 19 minutes, Poland – 8 minutes; Belgium – 14 minutes; Germany – 11 minutes. Cannot be shot down, no escape, no safe place. Why was the strike carried out?
The conflict in Ukraine became global after the Western missile strike on Russia (on November 19 with six ATACMS missiles and on November 20 with Storm Shadow missiles). It’s impossible to launch these without Western specialists, which means that the countries in question have consciously become parties to the conflict with all the ensuing consequences. Russia has repeatedly (!) warned its Western “partners” that such steps are unacceptable, but the West has taken the path of escalation, which is why a final warning is necessary. What does Russia want?
Moscow prefers a peaceful development of events and consistently advocates de-escalation, including nuclear. Russia hopes that its final warning will be heard and that common sense and the instinct for self-preservation will prevail in the West. Even now, Russia is ready to negotiate a peaceful solution to the conflict. Pick up the phone, press the buttons, say “hello”.What will happen if Russia’s warnings and appeals are not heard?
Russia has the right to use weapons against military facilities of countries that use their weapons against us. The Russian president said clearly: “If anyone doubts this, they are wrong. There will always be a response.”Isn’t Moscow afraid that NATO will declare war on Russia?
No. We are ready for any scenario. How will a strike by Western missiles deep into Russian territory affect the situation in the SMO zone?
It will have no effect.Russia warned the West about the launch 30 minutes in advance via the Nuclear Risk Reduction Center, although we have no such obligations. Moreover, our president promised to warn the civilians of Ukraine in advance if it was suddenly necessary to make more launches.
Meanwhile, the following signals are coming from Washington: “The US does not see any signs that Moscow is preparing to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine”; “Washington does not see the need to change its nuclear doctrine, despite Russia’s new decisions of this kind”; “The US will continue to allocate new packages of weapons to Ukraine and work to speed up their delivery” and, most importantly, “The launch of a Russian missile will not have a restraining effect on Washington’s policy towards Ukraine.”
Fat JonWell, if you believe the Daily Mail (unlikely under any circumstances, I know) WW3 has already begun….
TatyanaThe name of the missile, Oreshnik (hazelnut) surprised many, or rather, when Putin gave his speech about this strike, he allowed a faint expression on his face when speaking about the name Oreshnik. Native Russians interpret this expression unambiguously – there is something ironic in the name. But what?
Undoubtedly, people began to look for explanations, recalling folklore, associations, and the like. Until today, someone on Pikabu posted this:‘Listen, Man-cub,’ said the Bear, and his voice rumbled like thunder on a hot night. ‘I have taught thee all the Law of the Jungle for all the peoples of the Jungle—except the Monkey-Folk who live in the trees. They have no Law. They are outcasts.
They have no speech of their own, but use the stolen words which they overhear when they listen, and peep, and wait up above in the branches.
Their way is not our way.
They are without leaders.
They have no remembrance.
They boast and chatter and pretend that they are a great people about to do great affairs in the Jungle, but the falling of a nut turns their minds to laughter and all is forgotten.’
Rudyard Kipling, The Jungle BookWas very popular in USSR, there was great animation film made of it. Monkey-Folk landed in our culture under the name Bander-log, which is similar to Bandera, the Nazi and the hero of Ukraine.

These people rather pick nuclear war, mass death than de-escalation, peace in Ukraine.
How could they believe Ukraine could win military against Russia, it is so stupid, so dangerous!Let say Ukraine even fire a missile and kill Putin. Do west then believe that the next Russian leader would not respond in kind by taking out Zelensky and his government, or rather even respond worse by massive destruction of Kiev itself?!
Ukraine cannot simply win this game, it is absurd how corrupt the collective west have become through and through.
Fat JonOur rulers certainly do choose nuclear war, because they all have well stocked bunkers to go to.
They need to half the population of the planet, in order to reverse global warming and have far more space to relax in without having to worry about drinking water and food riots across the globe.
They also don’t fancy grappling with mass unemployment and have the capability with AI and robots to do all the chores for which humans demand payment.

“Reuters was among a small group of reporters given access to the wreckage of the missile on Sunday. Will they claim the missile hit a kindergarten or a hospital?

Alec*an average of 52% of Ukrainians would like to see their country negotiate an end to the war as soon as possible.’
i should say 92 per cent…TatyanaIt doesn’t matter what ordinary citizens want. They simply have no opportunity to express their opinion. There is no freedom of speech, the opposition is suppressed, the head of state has betrayed national interests, the land has been sold to foreign owners, the rights to resources have been sold to foreign owners, the territory is being cleared of the indigenous population.
Meanwhile, in NATO: *I will give a translation from Russian, if anyone has a source in the original language, please share*
During a conference in Brussels, the head of the bloc’s Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, said:
– This is a new discussion in NATO, and I am glad that we have changed our attitude to this and to the idea that we are a defense alliance and we will sit and wait until we are attacked and then we will react. It is smarter not to wait, but to hit the launchers in Russia in the event that Russia attacks us. We need a combination of high-precision strikes that will disable the systems that are used to attack us, and we must strike first.Do you see the same distortion of logic in this as I do?
‘We must strike first’ vs ‘in case Russia attacks us’
Both cannot be true at the same time, it is a contradiction.JackBiden keep escalating, it seems that Ukraine is the only thing this outgoing president is now focused on. Like an evil senile man he plot for esclation, world destruction.
People in his administration reportedly now weigh giving nuclear weapons to Ukraine.
Last week, the New York Times reported that certain US officials have suggested that Biden might provide Kiev with nuclear weapons as a deterrent against Russia. “That would be an instant and enormous deterrent,” the paper argued, noting however that such a step would be “complicated and have serious implications.”

Sorry that I am quickly just dropping this here:But I do wonder how you judge Maté´s interview:
Ukraine vs. Russia: Nuclear War, Frozen Conflict, or Peace?
Debate w/ Simon Shuster
Senior Correspondent at TIME Magazine Simon Shuster on newly increased aggression in the Ukraine-Russian Warhttps://www.usefulidiotspodcast.com/p/ukraine-vs-russia-nuclear-war-frozen
The disagreement starts only after 20 minutes! So be patient.
Maté talks to this TIME magazine correspondent who wrote a book about his time with Zelensky. He really sounds like a more weighed spokesperson of the US SoS which made it hard for me to liste through this. If it hadn´t been Useful Idiots I would have flatly ignored.
It later turns out that the correspondent claims to have family in Odessa. Which makes things even worse I figure…
Anyway if Maté talks to him they probably are somehow friends and have enough respect for each other.
Maté is too soft. But he is no saint anyway.Hope you guys are ok.
JackTen thousands ukrainias have deserted, went AWOL. I do not blame them. Quite a contrast to the alleged “unified” Ukraine that west like to report:
Facing every imaginable shortage, tens of thousands of Ukrainian troops, tired and bereft, have walked away from combat and front-line positions to slide into anonymity, according to soldiers, lawyers and Ukrainian officials
https://apnews.com/article/deserters-awol-ukraine-russia-war-def676562552d42bc5d593363c9e5ea0
And very few ukrainians have trust in Zelensky:
Only one in six Ukrainians would vote for Zelensky – poll
The country’s former top general, Valery Zaluzhny, would be supported by 27% if an election were held now, according to the surveyhttps://swentr.site/news/608326-ukraine-election-zelensky-zaluzhny/
TatyanaAG (and of course others) 🙂
I promise to listen to the interview, especially as I find Mr Maté very clever and a man of principle. I’d be intersting yo know his point of view. Thank for the link!
I in my turn would like to share this “Trump and his team” by ‘Antonov is such an Antonov’ Russian blogger. It’s in Russian, but I hope YouTube can provide English subtitles for this.
https://youtu.be/I-xctrKJ-qk
(we here in Russia have Yandex brouser, it can translate videos into Russian via neurolink tool, thus we can listen to videos in Russian language. I thought perhaps you guys may have similar tools in your countries. Let’s use tech progress for our convinience where possible)Very, VERY curious take on Trump and people around him! Actually, I wholehurtedly agree with all the points (rarely happens to me to wholely agree with smth).
The describes people from Trump’s team and their ‘political image’, and life experience, and the program of this team for the future of the US. And it turns out that these are people with the same values that we ourselves support in Russia. And the America that they want to create is smth like America of the 70s-80s, that we were in love with!
The image of that society resonated not only in the hearts of Americans or Europeans, but really throughout the world, including Russia. In fact, we adore THAT America.
And this, in the blogger’s opinion, is a problem!
Since Trump will not seek friendship with Russia, he will remain the same enemy of Russia as in his first presidential term. And how should we now be hostile to that America that we adore? This is a dilemma 🙂
I find it a little funny that the blogger doesn’t admit that we could find compromise and be friends with the USA, or at least, coexist neutrally. However, his arguments are also worth considering, especially since at the moment Russia has really been betrayed several times by too many parties and really trusts no one, and the US less than anyone.
